A non-governmental organization, called CitizenGO, is said to currently be garnering votes online to terminate the airing of popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.

Reports have it the group sent their petition to policy makers, the National Broadcasting Commission, the Presidency and the public and are aiming to get at least 5,000 signatures, they have about 3,160 signatures.

Their petition reads:

“Big Brother Nigeria is a corruption of TV Reality shows. The Nigerian public is complaining about the moral perversity in the House of the Big Brother Nigeria. In one episode last two weeks or so, the inmates were shown openly kissing and caressing one another. This is a celebration of obscenity, eroticism and idleness. More importantly, it is a big mockery of Nigerian culture and tradition. Since the inmates are Nigerians, they should have been projecting the Nigerian cultural heritage. But instead of doing that, they are bastardizing it. The biggest tragedy of the on-going Big Brother Nigeria is that our children are also glued to the TV screen watching it. Children are our future. Therefore we should protect them from lewd exposure, which might prevent their growth into free, independent and well-developed citizens. The NBC must live up to its bidding as a body charged with controlling, monitoring, regulating the electronic media and monitoring of satellite transmission in Nigeria. Our TV stations cannot become dumping grounds for all sorts of immoral programs.”

Just that Nigerians always takes things to the extreme.
We have BBA and even as many times as they have conducted their own, it is not rated as Nigerian's. They do all sorts of things and they are from different tribes and races.

Nigerians in the BBN thinks that by taking it to the extreme, that it will guarantee their winning the cash involved.

The truth is that even if they all went into that house sleeping, waking up, eating, shitting and going back to sleep everyday for the duration of the show, someone must still win the money. So why doing things that you can't be capable of doing on a normal day all for fame and money? And still got evicted.

That's the problem with Nigerians

Always worried and flexing muscle over the wrong shit undecided

Since the programme is rated 18+, are they trying to tell us that they care more about the moral values of the adults watching it than the adults themselves?

It's nobody's fault that they can't control what their kids or minors under their guidance watch undecided .....with so many media of disseminating information these days, if the kid is really interested in becoming morally perverted, there is very little one can do to stop it sad

They should make use of their DSTV parental control functions and shut the hell up sad .....and no, it's nobody's fault that the kids/minors get to watch it somewhere else....lock the pikin inside without access to Internet and humanity if you are really bent on keeping him/her a sexually moral virgin sad

Only 5 thousand signatures required? that very insignificant compared to the about 5 million viewers of the show in Nigeria alone, abeg make them park well.

I was expecting them to come up with reasons like "The BBnaija show is responsible for Corruption in Nigeria" only then they would have been taken serious.

Nigerians and hypocrisy. When are we going to stop all these? How many of the NGOs have gathered signatures to show our displeasure for the bad state of the economy, unemployment, terrorism and high foreign exchange rates? Where was this NGO then? The National Assemby exhibiting wealth even in this recession, where was this NGO? The numerous state governments that have not paid numerous pensioners and civil servants where was this NGO? I beg if I continue to write I will not finish today. Is it BBN that is the issue here of better state of living for Nigerians abeg CitizenGO or what do you call yourself please stop this hypocrisy and let's face what will better our lives as Nigerians.

Isn't that the reason is rated 18+? Why tune in if it annoys you so? Hypocracy has eaten deep that with talk with levity and mediocre attitude. Who do you think you're protecting?? You think kids of nowadays needs TV to watch mama and papa do the thing?

My advice channels your energy to something more productive. E.g protesting for steady light.

I concur. BBN should be advised to look into a program that can help Nigerians to grow.

Take for instance I recently got a place I can start a business. The only thing stopping me is finance .
A business that would instantly employ others and generate revenue for the government.

I tried other means but they were saying a loan can be available after 3-6months.
That accommodation will not be waiting for me till then sad

I am not just saying this for myself. I know that so many Nigerians are also going through the same.

Now imagine what 25million can do in the lives of those 25 Nigerians with good intentions, equipping others, putting food on the table without show of immorality

Governments should look into all these reality shows and channel to a better use for the growth of the Nigerians economy.

I'M JUST THINKING OUT LOUD.

THE BIG BROTHER NAIJA SHOW.

There's a notorious programme currently going on called THE BIG BROTHER NAIJA. The winner of this notorious show is expected to walk away with a whopping N25 million and a breathtaking car. All that is required to win this show is to be Live with a bunch of fellow crazy, irresponsible people, do all sorts of immoral things, and, viola, you're the winner.

Next thing, you're called a celebrity, winning big advertisement contracts and becoming the face of multinational companies.

If only there could be an educating version of this programme. If only they could house some intelligent people in like manner and make them compete for similar prizes. But, no! Our people do not encourage sanity. Our society promotes evil over good, indecency over decency, immorality over morality, and ungodliness over godliness.

The best in Mathematics competitions will go home with either a carton of cowbell milk or Indomie noodles, ridiculous stipends and laughable prizes. Yet these morons in BBN will earn millions for coming to suck breasts, speak thrash, display nudity, and get under the sheets on International TVs.

Our rich individuals, companies and corporate organisations will spend huge sums of money sponsoring dirty shows like BBN and Beauty Pageants where they will enthrone satanic activities, display nudity, molest our under aged girls, and make them win on bottom power rather than on real beauty and brains. Can anyone forget the Anambra State born Chidinma Okeke saga in a hurry?

What a wasted generation! What a time! How do we raise, nurture and produce the next Chike Obis, Chinua Achebes, Wole Soyinkas, Cyril stover, Apostle olatunde Adekunle, and yes, P.O.C. Akorefes? What foundation are we laying for coming generations? What message of hope and legacy are we leaving behind? What epistle are we sending to the future to testify to it that the past made some level of contributions. Is Immorality the legacy we really want to hand down to the next generation? Are we not losing our minds?

Let all people of goodwill come together and raise alarm against this dirty programme. Let us all with one voice and in unison say, "We've had enough of this nonsense." Let us blow the trumpet in Zion and declare war on these encouragers of evil tendencies and promoters of these demonic programmes targeted at our highly impressionable youths. We should see that this programme is replaced with a more intelligent and educative programme.

Nigeria is broke morally and financially, yet the sponsors are wasting millions of Naira on a highly immoral programme. Please what is the lesson that one can learn from this Big Brother show? What can our YOUTHS pick from it? I know this kind of write up doesn't get many shares. But if we keep quiet, then we are silent conspirators.

So share. Share until a thought process is provoked in the heart of everyone and we can stand up to say, Enough of this nonsense."

SAY NO TO IMMORALITY
