Jose mourinho look set to win the first silverware of the season as his side battle Southampton in the EFL cup final at the Wembley stadium on Sunday.
The Red devils overcame Hull City in the semi final of the competition while the saints defeated a more fancied Liverpool side in a two legged the semi final, winning both games by 1-0 scorelines to book their place in the final.
Southampton haven't conceded a goal in the competition this season following the footsteps of Tottenham hotspurs who also achieved the same feat in 1982. However they will have their hands full on Sunday with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in fine form in front of goal.
The red devils striker has scored 24 goals in all competition this season and will look to lead United to cup glory over their opponents who are appearing in a cup final since the 2003 FA cup final where they lost to Arsenal.
Southampton knocked out the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Sunderland and crystal palace, on their road to the final while Manchester United real test were city rivals Manchester City whom they defeated 1-0 at home in the 4th round.
Southampton fans would hope the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Orio Romeu, Dusan Tadic will be in good form against United fire power of Ibrahimovic, Paul pogba, With Wayne Rooney, Anthony martial, Marcus Rashford also available .
Manchester United will be without Henrik Mkhitarian while Phil Jones is uncertain for the ecounter, while Rooney is expected to feature Eric bailly, Ander Herrera and Micheal Carrick will be available for selection.
The saints have Virgin Van dijk Charlie Austin, Jeremy Pied, Matt Targett and Alex McCarthy all on long-term injuries. Southampton hope playmaker Sofiane Boufal will return from an ankle injury.
Martin Caceres could make his debut for Southampton in the final, the 29-year-old former Barcelona and Juventus defender joined the club last week and impressed boss Claude Puel during a training camp in Spain.
Head-to-head
This is the second time these sides have met in the final of a competition, having played each other in the 1976 FA Cup final. Southampton, then a second-tier side, defeated United 1-0 thanks to a Bobby Stokes goal. It remains the only time they have won a major English trophy.
Southampton will be the third team United have played in both an FA Cup and League Cup final, following Aston Villa and Liverpool.
The match kicks off 4.30pm on Sunday evening
