Hi Everyone

I would like to post my issue here and this is my first time I post threads on this forum and hopefully I get some help from you members.

My issue is that I have just rebuilt a 2004 Toyota Voxy engine (Engine Code: 1AZ-FSE) 2.0L Petrol Automatic and am having the following problems with the car when I start it:

1/ Car rev too high (2000RPM) on start up
2/ Car starts blowing lots of white/grey smoke on cold start and clears away after running for 2-3 minutes and also when I put My hand in the smoke it feels a little bit greasy.
3/ Car also has got some misfire that can be felt when listening to the exhaust pipe blowing intermittently.
4/ The engine gets really hot real quick and the fan keeps coming on very frequently but I think this might be due to some air blockage in the cooling system or some leak in the radiator.
5/ The oil dipstick kind of smells of petrol.
6/ No fault codes given when scanned with my Autel MaxiSys Pro MS908P.

So my questions to the experts here are:

Do you think this is an injector leak issue? or a Vacuum leak because I suspect some bad intake manifold gaskets?
The engine sound is smooth and all the valve stem seals, piston rings, con rod bearings, head gasket and timing chain replaced and the crack shaft was regrinded by professionals in the rebuild process . And also the engine was thoroughly cleaned before assembling it.

Your quick replies will be highly appreciated as I am really not sure where to start with fixing this engine.

Thanks.

The easiest thing to do on a rare imported car.

Thanks anyway.

Did u align the ring n oil seals properly? I have read that they all have to face different angles. Also, you need to cut/grind the engine block, so that its become round again. The new rings are circular while the block is oval due to the old rings, this may have been the reason for your premature engine failure.

how do you vouch for the transplant if the engine is not brand new?

A brand new engine for a 2004 ride? Can't be seen sir. Your source is one thing that matters.

Engine rebuilds done by a professional is more much expensive cos lots of rebuild kits will need to be imported and everything will need to be done to specification and any slight miscalculation will involve starting again from scratch .compare this laborious task to cheaper alternative of going to the market to source for a good grade tokunbo engine.
This is business, principle of comparative advantage will need to be considered.
The only reason u will want to do rebuild if u are dealing with classics

all you are saying is right but at least someone needs to start n create awareness first. Its like the thermostat wahala, and car scanning, in the past no one cared but now, people take it seriously.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, however the fact is I am not an expert but I have done my best to follow the book and what the professionals do and say in regards to rebuilding an engine, and yes I did align the piston rings correctly because I knew that this will be important to keep the chambers stayed sealed all the time.

I have torqued each and every bolt according to the manufacturer's repair manual.

But my question is what you fellows think is causing this slight misfire and white/grey smoke that is blown out of the exhaust pipe when cold starting the car.

Thanks

i am more of theory than practical. When i need something done, i let the mechanic do it for me while i instruct n supervise.

Get new plugs and plug cable. Trust me, that thing frustrated me some time ago.

For the smoke, i may suspect your gasket, did u get the right gasket? Are u sure the cylinder head was not warped? Did u double the head gasket?
