This is not a history making event. Even if KOWA had won the 2015 election, Mahmud would have retired in 2016 and the No 2 then now No 1 would have still become CJN. Whether Buhari or any other person, Justice Walter Onnoghen would have become CJN. It is not Buhari that appointed Onnoghen as Justice of Supreme Court neither did he rearrange the hierarchy of d Supreme Court to make Onnoghen No 2. Sorry, it is a matter of progression that is calculated immediately a judge is appointed into the Supreme Court. If it is a historic event then where is ur celebration for the Northerners that became CJN during GEJ's tenure? 7 Likes |

sarrki: Can you please get an education first!!! The statutory age of retirement for all Judges in Nigeria is 70 years! Onnoghen will attain that mandatory age of retirement in 2020. Buhari has no infuence over that. Forwarding the name of the CJN to the Senate is the statutory function of the President; the occupant of that office from November to January 19th failed to do his job before his indefinite supposed ailment!
