Illegal Training: Leadership Centre Disowns Marcus Okotete, equatorial Richfields by waleadex(m): 8:30pm On Mar 08, 2017
The Citizenship and Leadership Training
Centre (CLTC), Abuja, has warned the general
public of an on-going illegal recruitment of
candidates for trainings purportedly being
organised by the Centre across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the
Public Relations Unit of the CLTC, and signed
by Mrs. Chinwe Nduka, a certain Mr. Marcus
Okotete is using his company, Equatorial
Richfields Limited to distribute forms to
unsuspecting members of the public.
Nduka disowned Okotete and Equatorial
Richfields, adding that the Centre is not
planning any such training with Mr. Okotete
and his company.
The statement, however, said the Centre
entered into partnership agreement with
Equatorial Richfields for a period of one year
which commenced on June 25, 2015 and
terminated on June 24, 2016 with no renewal
but that the company has continued to
parade itself as a training partner with the
Centre with the aim of deceiving the public
as well as commit fraud.
“The Centre received inquiries from some
concerned members of the public and
organisations seeking to know whether the
Centre is organising any training in
collaboration Equatorial Richfields Limited.
“Further checks revealed that the said
Equatorial Richfields Limited has written a
letter to the Commandant, NDLEA Jos,
requesting the use of its facilities for
accommodation of participants to a training
being organised by the Centre.
“The Centre is in possession of the said letter
written with the Centre’s official letterheads,”
the statement said.
“Apart from the letter to the NDLEA, the
statement said Mr. Marcus and his company
has been impersonating the Centre in
different parts of the country, including selling
‘’women empowerment forms’’ to women in
Calabar Cross River State, with a claim that
he was doing it in partnership with the
Centre, the statement reads.
Furthermore, the statement said that the
Centre has filed a complaint with the
Directorate of State Security through a letter
to that effect with reference HQ/CON:2984/
VOL.V/885 dated March 7, 2017, with details
of the impersonation being perpetuated by
Mr. Okoetete and his company.
The Centre therefore warned agencies of
government, other organisations and
individuals being approached for training
recruitments to seek clarifications from the
Centre at its national secretariat at Plot 1075
Gomwalk Street, Dudu District, Abuja or its
zonal offices across the country to avoid
falling into the hands of fraudsters.
