FOLLOWING the recent horrendous killings of some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in some parts of the country, President Umaru Yar’Adua has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbonna Onovo and other security agencies to provide security cover for the corps across the country.

The Minister of Youth Development, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, who made this known in Abuja on Thursday at the 2009 ministerial news briefing, added that efforts were already on to arrest and prosecute the killers of Miss Grace Ushang, a Batch B member of the NYSC in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Accordingly, he said: “The IGP has already issued a signal to state police commands to provide 24 hours security cover for corps members across the states,” adding, “Let me reassure Nigerians that other security agencies are similarly being mobilised to secure the corps members across the federation.”

Isn't it time they disband this youth corp matter. Like most things in this country, some regions do all the work while other don't contribute enough.

I hope they heard Yar'Adua well as he is dishing orders from coma.

That is exactly what i wanted to say, which Yara dua gave the orders and how, where and when was the order given. Did the IGP speak to Umaru through video conferencing or he took an over night trip to Saudi Arabia.

Most likely, it was Turai that gave the orders.

We should have had a 50 million man march to Abuja by now. Demand a video conference, that Yaradua address the nation or he resigns.
