This man speaks like a true patriot and I agree with most of what he says, but the major solution to Nigeria's problems is not restructuring, it is still fighting corruption. Both political and economic corruption. If you restructure the country into regions and the regional heads are corrupt and incompetent, how does that help? A major reason the north is educationally backwards is because their leaders have diverted their resources and allocations for their personal use, and there is no accountability. It is the same problem with the Niger Delta, and if you check very well, you'll see that both the north and Niger Delta have similar issues - educational backwardness, insurgency, poor infrastructural development. To blame that on the central government is just plain mental laziness.
Whatever the structure of the nation is is not as relevant as having competent, accountable and economically sound leaders...

I understand your point but just because something is given to you does not mean that need to accept it. Especially when it clearly does not work in your favor.

There are more peasants than emirs. The people of the north have shown a peculiar willingness to kill southerners and infidels for the pettiest of reasons (such as comments made about beauty contests or cartoons drawn in Denmark) then why do they refuse to force their useless leaders to feel their wrath? Why can't they use that same violence to bring about real change to their society?

That's what i call mental slavery...

They are easily brainwashed... They are ready to kill the people they call infidels not knowing their problems/issues is in their communities..

They are not ready to overcome their predicament...willing to lavish in poverty...

That is one of the reason their elites don't want them to go to school...

Well i tire for their matter...

In a way he was right
A colonial policy indeed was in place.
Sanusi made mention of it one time

Sanusi also said that $47 billion was missing from state coffers...

The colonial authorities did not stop them from educating their children that was their own stupid thinking.

Instead of having your child recite a book written by an Arab who was probably a schizophrenic teach them mathematics. Mathematics is universal. It wouldn't impede on their religious mythology in any way and would provide them with the foundation to be engineers. They elected not to.

What is that crap? Where will d FG draw d funds to share as allocation from? Is it not from d regions? Why should a group of people commandeer resources not theirs and redistribute by whatever sharing formula? The regions should be self reliant and then contribute to the centre an agreed percentage.

There are some of you that your main problem is your inability to wean yourself from critical and judgmental mind. What does Yoruba you called Afonja have to do with this interview? How can we have people with your frame of mind in Nigeria and we think there is future for the country? Your vituperations are failure of sound development of intellect. Can't we dissect, pick out strengths and jettison the odds? If a man proposed restructuring but still desires that his concept of restructuring should be one that regions should depend on FG to sustain themselves is that far different from present system. The fundamental issue in any restructuring is fiscal autonomy of the regions. Federal Government should bother itself about exclusive common matters to the existence of unity but not on fundamental matters that states can handle better. There are quotes strengths in his interview as well as odds.
Think before you write. Stop wasting your data on frivolity.

More than average of total population of Northerners are scare of any Southerner to Becomes president, Because of too much hate and Descrimination from the Southerners which is means there will be more Consequences whenever Southerner climbs number one seat. For Example, During Jonathan everyone knows Jonathan did not fought well on Boko Haram and its even politically Empowered by Him. If you to Judge fairly you know South hates North very much for Example, its hardly to find Northerner that owns House or land in south but if you come to The North you will be Suprised to find thousands of Southerners that own lands, Houses, and some of them are even in the Government. We treat them like our own people we do Business with them we employ them we give them Right to own Businesses we sometimes prefer to do Business with them than our own people and all we need from them is only to respect our Religion and Tribe Because these two things come first before everything.

Brother. Your opinion is what the constitution said about movement, trade and migration.
Is there anytime a northerner precisely wanted land for development or premises for business and was denied by the south or southerner. You're mindset is negative and need proper orientation accordingly.
Hausas still occupy vital positions in SW. The share common business relationship in the SE. Hausas monopolize certain business there in south. I have 4 plots of lands for sale in owerri

What a load of bullcrap. You are exactly what Balarabe Musa just described, the uneducated problem of Nigeria. Your opinion is not just skewered but inherently flawed. Praytell, how many notherners even own houses in northern cities as compared to southerners in their own cities?

The south hates you but your folks litter the entire hamlets and clans in the south looking for the low income opportunities most of them are qualified for mainly due to illiteracy? Because you are not educated and trained to see opportunities, your folks end up as mai guards, cobblers, mai shai, mai suya and the likes and you blame the south for giving you the opportunity to ply your trade?
The problem is religion and mundane non progressive cultural practices. I'm tempted to say that the average northerner lacks ambition, maybe due to religious and cultural influences. We still have myriads of illiterate southerners, but their mentality and outlook to life is almost completely different hence why they are progressive.

The southerner is not your problem, it is your nothern elites who impoverish you mind, body and spirit with religious stupidity and tribal brainwashing to the point where common sense takes flight and you resort to blaming the south for the sins of your fathers. My brother read what you wrote again and tell me if you don't deserve a refund of the school fees you've paid thus far?

Interesting smiley

But on the issue of Southerners hating Northerners, you maybe right in a way, and I think why Southerners; take Igbos for example dislike Northerners is because northerners are so blood-thirsty, they don't value human life and are ready to kill at any slightest provocation which can be settled via dialogue....this is the major reason Igbos seem not to like Northerners much because Igbo value life a lot...Igbos hate to kill anybody except there is official war. An Igbo man can never slap or kill you or burn your property just because you abused Jesus Christ or Christianity because Igbos believe that the God they worship is big enough to fight for Himself and avenge His cause, but northerners believe in fighting for their god and religion.

You mentioned that if you go to the south, that you will never find a house owned by a northerner and that's very true and it shows that northerners are heartless, wicked and very tribalistic in nature because nobody stops them from buying land and building house in the south, instead they prefer to sleep in make-shift houses, or in the Mosque and in trucks and go back to the north to build houses because they know that they are troublesome and are ready to cause fight in their southern host community any day, anytime which may lead to the host community burning down their property.

But take the Igbo for example, despite what they have lost during the Biafran war, during Abiola riot, Igbos have never stopped to build mansions in the north and in southwest Nigeria, reason being that Igbos by nature love to build and develop....they think development before religion or tribe.

I think the major problem the north has is lack of education coupled with the religion they practice which doesn't encourage western education and rational and developmental thinking, forgive me if I am wrong, but you made honest comment and I love it smiley

Aside your use of derogatory and insulting words to address his comment, you said nothing but the truth.

The problem of the north is lack of education + their religion (which doesn't encourage western progressive education that brings technological and human development and progressive thinking) + mundane cultural practice

Northerners need to sit down and review their religious practice and fanatism to religion. They place religion above human development and intellectual prosperity, which is their problem.
