So assume Seun makes between 2.5 and 5 million a month in gross revenues, he can ask for:

(2.5 x 12) x 10 or (5 x 12) x 10

= 300 to 600 million naira

~= 2million dollars

Disregard all those armchair analysts and the $8.7 m valuation.

NL is worth nowhere near that amount for various reasons. The tech stack is outdated; the monetization techniques are poor, the mods are slack and this drags down the value of the site ... there are many more reasons but Seun isn't paying me so I'd better shut up .

NL has its brand awareness and youth demographic going for it, but that is not enough to command such a high premium.

I say $3.5m at most. And that's a stretch

Hmmm, I was surprised at the $8.7M valuation myself. In truth NL has the potential to have hit $50M valuation or even more by now but I feel the potential of the platform is not being fully exploited (and I don't know why). I'll agree with your initial $2M value but it could be less.

Just so you know LIB was worth over $2m in 2011 or so. LIB is now more popular and has much more traffic than before and even accrues more from advertisement now than before.

Nairaland worth is far more than the above analysis. Let me remind you that as far back as 2012-2014 NL got an offer of $1Million to acquire it and was denied according to history.

That aside as an SEO Expert, I could give you some pointers to consider in Nairaland valuation.

The domain name alone worth the $2million having one of the highest domain authority in Nigeria around DA81 and PA80. That means its has potential to rank anything you post within seconds on Search engine page one like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. I have tested it before
