Almost all the religions of the world hold love in paramount esteem.
The message of Christ is based on love: “Love for God and love for one’s neighbor.”
Almost all the prophets talked about the importance of love.

But what exactly is love?

Since love is very important, we should know exactly what love is. But there is more than a thousand definition of love, some definitions very contrary to others. We here definitions like: "Love is jealous, love is blind and etc" Other definitions say: "God is love, Jesus is love, and etc" Since God is Love and love is blind; does it mean that God is blind? You see how contradictory sayings are.

Is love a feeling or a sentiment?
A man says to his girlfriend, “Honey I love you, I feel nothing but love for you, and etc.”
He says the words to his mother, but the way he feels about his mother is very different from the way he feels about his girlfriend.

Is love a measurable quantity?
A person may say that he/she loves his son more than his/her dog. Loving something more than the other implies that love is measurable. But is this so?

Is love an emotion of kindness, gentility, affection, and forgiveness?
If so, then how are we supposed to love everybody, including our enemies; since we are told to love our enemies? Should we feel affectionate towards murderers, sinners, terrorists, and etc?

What exactly is love? What does it mean to love somebody? What does it mean to love your neighbor? What does it mean to love God?

the bible tells us in the book of 1cont 13:4 that love is patient and kind,it is not jealous it does not brag, it is not proud,neither is it rude or selfish.and it cannot be made angry easily, it does not hold grudges,it is not happy with people who do wrong,but always happy with the truth.love never gives up on people, it never loses hope, nor does it sop trusting.it never quits, and it has no end.

For me, love can be defined as the total submission of one's mind, body and soul for the spiritual development of another disregarding the benefits of what one stand to gain in doing so.
