The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo, has urged Nigerians to think and find ways to use the petroleum resources in the Niger Delta region to develop the country for the benefit of its citizens.

Osinbanjo said the Federal Government, in its determination to achieve its development objectives in the Niger Delta area, would treat oil producing communities as special development areas.

The Vice-President spoke in Umuahia, Abia State capital during a one-day town hall meeting with Abia indigenes in line with the Federal Government’s plan to deal with the challenges of the oil producing states in the country.

He said, “In November 2016, the Niger Delta Forum visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa and submitted a 16-point road map on how to develop the oil producing communities.

“The President therefore decided that there must be an interaction with the people and the leaders of the communities, to hear them, seek an understanding about their problems and concerns and present a new road map to develop the oil producing communities.”

He said it was common knowledge that most people in the oil producing communities only hear about oil wells without benefiting from the wealth.

Osinbajo said that oil producing communities must be made the hub of the petrochemical industry and the power sector to create employment opportunities for youths in the area.

This goes a long way to show that either buhari is a confuse man or the most cluelless person on the whole planet earth. Why threating the region that feed the nation only for them to change and want to treat it differently

This is what Nigeria should have done since.
The region is Nigeria's engine of growth. The FG should concentrate on host communities and youths. Every LGA deserves a gas driven manufacturing ent ity be it fertilizer, LPG, power .

This new round of empty talks is about the new oil block deals about to be shared. The old licenses have expired, so the oil wells are about to be shared again.

This is actually the reason GEJ was conspired against and pushed away in 2015.

HE DID NOT ALLOCATE EVEN A SINGLE OIL WELL TO ANYONE ALL THROUGH HIS PRESIDENCY. And he was BENT ON IMPLEMENTING THE CONFAB REPORT AND SECURING RESOURCE CONTROL FOR THE NIGER DELTA and all other regions.

But the APC hawks and their lying demons ganged up, deceived Nigerians with empty lies and postponed GEJ's plan indefinitely.

Now they are back again with the same empty lies to deceive the Niger Delta in order to share their oil wells for another decade or more. And yet, the fools will fall for the deception.

Please militants will still be wasted and corrupt politicians will still be hounded. Don't get it wrong.
Niger Delta people will even assist the FG in this area.
Taking out bad people does not equate to declaring war on the region.
More ND citizens have been killed, kidnapped and raped by militants and cultists than other citizens.

This is a BIG lie.
GEJ allocated oil blocs. Also if he had been planning all these resource control, why did he not do it openly ?. Why did he not tell us during the elections?
You guys are always amateurish. The new oil blocs bidding is going to divorce host communities from state governments in terms of participation. The FG would probably own just 45% of the joint ventures.
The days of powerful state governments are over. Rice host communities are coming.
