It's a shame that Nigerians are mentally lazy and most of us Christians are lazier. Always relying on what we hear from the pulpit rather than doing an in depth research on any subject we have an issue with. First, there is nothing like "Male clothing and Female clothing". All that are subject to customs, tradition and the fashion of the day. Our forefathers tied wrappers like women do and the 18th century French men wore heels and long boots like our women of today. In ancient Israel, both men and women wore robes but it was discovered that some men (probably out of laziness or some other reason) wore their wives robes not minding if the women were "unclean" (on their period) cos being unclean made what they wore unclean also and when the men were such unclean apparel, it made them unclean also. The habit also put other people at risk of being unclean cos if you were touched by an unclean person, you were also considered unclean until you took a bath. So imagine the predicament a priest would be in if he ignorantly touched a man wearing an unclean robe and then went to perform sacrifices at the altar. So the law was passed for the safety of all concerned and not for trousers or skirts as touted in Nigeria.

P.S: Persian soldiers (mortal enemies of the Israelites) were the first people to wear trousers and Scottish men still wear skirts (kilts). Does that make them sinners too?

in those days when a woman is in her monthly period she is termed unclean and so anything she touches or wears is dubbed unclean Lev 15:19. That's the reason of "don't wear what belongs to a man n vise versa" but grace came and redeemed us from the course of the law. Therefore the new law pertaining dressing is "dress modestly" so one can dress mini- skirt and its not trouser but not modest.

I was brought up in an orthodox church and still attend same. Trousers are NOT allowed for any reason.

who said its majorly for men? Go to a boutique to buy clothes you have male section and female section. In the female section u have " female trouser" why are we so unintelligently righteous? Its ok to wear trouser outside the church but wrong to wear it in the church? God does not live in the church he lives in us, so we are his church. So if we dress modestly as the scriptures prescribes we don't sin. Note it might be in the law of a church for women not to wear trousers to church or not to serve as a worker in the church, but that doesn't make it a sin as far as modesty is maintained.

Ignorance displayed! What verse of the Bible talks about trouser belonging to male? Dress is a cultural thing and the first trouser came thousands of years after Bible was written. In Bible times, there was no trouser or skirt but robes an garments. If you read the previous verses of the passage u are quoting, it is written that you should not wear linen and cotton together and that you should not plant corn and yam on the same land. We no longer live under the law for there is man that can keep the law save for Jesus. The grace is made available to us through Jesus. Thats why despite our unrighteousness, we are still living. Under the law, when you sin, death is the inevitable. But under grace, though a righteous man falls seven times,yet he will rise up again. Who are we to declare others unrighteous? Who hasn't committed sin in the last 24 hrs. It is by grace thru Christ.
