chukagates: remove MTN from nigeria and watch it GO BANKRUPT This is why we keep telling Nigerians to know their worth. They think MTN is doing Nigeria a favor by employing people, but instead MTN is milking Nigeria by the second. Imagine 33%+ of their global revenue is coming from naija alone. With this, there's nothing Nigeria can do to them that will make them leave. They won't want to sell their efforts over the years cheaply to another company. I'm not say we should chase them out, but I'm saying govt should make strict policies that will make all these companies play by the rules and stop repatriating money out of the country. |

daamazing: Hello, today we at http://techredirector.com decided to do a little review and research on some of our telecommunication companies here in Nigeria. There are 4 active Telecommunication companies namely; *Etisalat *MTN *Airtel( Bharti Airtel) and *Globacom(Glo)

In 1983 the ownership structure changed – United Arab Emirates government held a 60% share in the company and the remaining 40% were publicly traded. In 1991 the UAE central government issued Federal Law No. 1, which gave the corporation the right to provide the telecommunications wired and wireless services in the country and between UAE and other countries. It also gave the firm the right to issue licenses for owning, importing, manufacturing, using or operating telecommunication equipment.

We are also not given the income they make from Nigeria. true, this companies are in Nigeria but they aren't owned by Nigerians, they have headquarters their headquarters in different other countries (Globacom excluded). It'll be hard to tell how much they make from the countries individually and would take lot of research time. However, thanks for commenting, we'll try and work on this next to time.
