Lecturer To Parents: Stop Registering Your Children In ‘’miracle Centres by Nobody: 12:27am On Mar 27, 2017
Mr Musbau Abdulkareem, Head, Political Science Department, College of Education, Oro, Kwara has advised parents against registering their children in ”miracle centres” for examinations. Abdulkareem gave the advice in Ilorin on Sunday while speaking with newsmen, saying such centre did not produce good results as they were made to believe. According to him, the contrary, ”miracle centres” represents illegal short cut to good results and will have negative effect on the students in the future. The academic said that registering students in such centres would not only affect the students academically, but also in other spheres of life. “I can’t imagine some parents will go to the extent of paying double amount to register their children in miracle centres, for them to get good grades in their ordinary level examinations. “I wonder why the number of special centres in the country is increasing and still attracts huge number of students. It spells doom for the future of education in the country. “Parents are not doing their children a favour by registering them in such centres. They are only ruining their future as they will not be able to defend such results,’’ he said. He, however, called on government at all levels to device means to try and stamp out the rapid increase of miracle centres in the country. The lecturer also urged the parents to desist from encouraging their children of exam malpractices and learn to instil in their children the concept of discipline and hard work.
