On February 17th, 2017, the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) experienced a protest like never before. The school management is obviously still in shock by the actions taken by the students on that day. Immediately after the protest which lasted for some hours, students living in the hostel premises were asked to evacuate, and an indefinite strike Began. After the heat had gone calm, the date fixed for resumption was set for April 3rd, 2017. Yesterday, being March 30th, there was a meeting at the Senate of the University where this crucial matter was discussed, and it was concluded that this Break is extended for the next three weeks (21 days) with effects from April 3rd, 2017. Therefore, the resumption Date after this mid-semester break is Monday, April 24th, 2017. So Just if you had plans on returning to school soon, you Need to change your plans and take a chill. Nigeria students should rise up and condemn this rubbish. School authorities have used this system to suppress students. They will shut the school indefinitely just to make sure that the students are severely punished. They have nothing to lose. The most funny part of it is that they will not listen to ur plea if there is peaceful protest. |
