Step 1

Avoid using peer to peer sharing programs.
Unless you know who is on the other end of the computer you are downloading from, I wouldn't recommend it. Even though you might get the file you wanted, it also may have a virus attached to it. Sometimes they can be hard to find, even with anti virus software. So unless you know the person you are downloading directly from, run your anti virus program on the file before you open it.

Step 3
Don't open email attachments from people you do not know.
If you have received and email from someone you don't know, and it has an attachment, it might not be a good idea to open it. There are many dangerous viruses that can destroy your computer that can be sent through the email. Sometimes even after opening the file you will not realize that it is on your computer. It may take the virus days, weeks, or even months before it starts to show signs of damage to your computer. But just because you can't see it at first, doesn't mean the virus is not there.

computers are the host, and external storage devices are the carriers

and you have to know a lil bit of malwares, i could send a virus sample if you want and lets see how strong your antivirus firewall is

you flee from viruses because you dont understand them but once you do you'll be looking for them

i equally like to get a sample. So that i can add it to my database

use your anti-virus program to scan flash drives and external HDD before accessing them.

Always keep your anti-virus programs up-to-date so as to be able to detect the latest threats.

i could'nt upload directly due to nairaland policy so i changed the extention to .doc just rename the extention to .exe, with some antivirus program you dont even need to rename, but be careful i would not be responsible for any loss of data

Iv tested my anti-virus with dis virus sample, nd I can proudly say dat my NOD32 Business edition did justice 2it without renaming d ext.

Go to your browser tools/settings and enable pop-up blocker.
