I should definitely found myself in a world of ecstasy if these Internet cowards fanning for censorship of contributors based on ethnic bias should petition the federal government of Nigeria to tear down the walls of federal character crap, quota system and state of origin.

Why does this guy like writing elongated and inane crap?

Just simply say "I think the hypocrites on NL should spend more of their energy on pressuring the Nigerian Government to tear down institutional programs such as the ethnic quota system"

Simple to understand, concise clear and fresh

As it is usually the case, you miss the point. I will however, summarise the points of the post:
1. Tribal bashing should stop; it doesn't help and no tribe is innocent. Like the proverb says, " those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"
2. We agree that there are problems in Nigeria; we should use these sections to discuss issues intelligently, and profer solutions. Chinese proverb - "a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step". Rational discourse may lead to real solutions and perhaps a change of mind-set.
3. Repeating of past errors will only lead self-destruction.

You have made it clear that you want the disintegration of Nigeria. For those of us that want a better life for ourselves and our families with or without Nigeria, let us continue to find a way forward. I refuse to be held back by mistakes of a generation that were not too enlightened. I will continue to be positive because Nigeria is my country and I want a great place for my children to live in and be a part of. I do not want to be in a nation with just Yoruba people, I want to be in a nation with Igbo, Ijaw, hausa, Tiv, etc.

There is Igbo proverb that says “human can not break the neck without the head”.

It is very funny on your part to write about mistakes of our past generation. Ironically, the so-called mistakes are still with us today and handsomely sponsored by the federal government of Nigeria. Nigeria rides on the wheel of sectionalism.

I think it will amount to acts of futility to request the products of such institutionalized sectionalism to behavior or act differently. The source of the alleged Internet discomfort could be eliminated by disintegration of Nigeria.

It is always a wiser medical approach to cure the disease than to treat the symptoms of the disease.

It is your view that disintegrating Nigeria is the solution while it is my view that changing our mind-sets and challenging our political office holders collectively will lead to a better and prosperous society. I hold this view because the looters in our midst will not disappear with the disintegration of Nigeria and the rise of new republics.

Agreed. It is common knowledge to intelligent people why the quota system is in place; revealing sentiments against the quota system suggests significant ignorance about the foundation albeit rocky one of Nigeria. The British made it a colonial policy that no Northerner would be educated, we cannot change this anymore- the past is the past. The quota system will not prevent a brilliant igbo person from getting a job.

We can now focus on the future- disintegration cannot be a solution. Disintegration would destroy us. The igbos have some warped notion that they are better than other tribes- yes I said it, sue me- and that they can make an economically feasible state, but i doubt it. So why not try and solve the problems we have in Nigeria? Moreover, the reason for Nigeria's problem has nothing to do with tribe- I lived a significant part of my life with the so-called ruling class and I rarely saw any ethnic bias.

Furthermore, Mekusxx and company blame people on NL as tribalist while unable to self-reflect and understand that they are no better. To make matters worse, mekusxx does not live in Nigerian and is likely to be empathetic about the problems of igbos in Nigeria but it seems he is more willing to "improve the igbo plight" by posting messages about "80 year old Yoruba man sleeping with 18 year old girl." You can understand why the majority of us think you are a re-tard.

Anyways, I cannot change your attitudes, but I can at least change mine. In retrospect, I am happy I encountered people like you because it gave me an insight into the plight of the uneducated masses.

I am not much impressed with the amalgam of your political philosophy. However, I hate to rain on your parade day. I remembered when Igbo extractions were elected into political offices in Lagos, Hausa extraction was elected the first mayor of Enugu, one of the Benin federal constituencies elected Igbo extraction and a section of Port Harcourt municipality was represented by Yoruba extraction voted into office by Ndigbo.

These political relics are things of 60s before Nigeria/Biafra civil war and probably have no place in today’s Nigeria. The fact remains that Nigeria is growing very fast toward disintegration. There is no amount of accelerated display of political naiveté or delusional mindset that will change the course of Nigerian destiny.

Shut up your putrid oral cavity, you lamb dung.

You are funny as hell and a real chip from an old block. What a nuisance? If you really want to show correct examples, I guess you would have started with complete sentences so that I could emulate your acts. I do not think that proffering examples marred by disjointed sentences are the best way to impact knowledge.

We are getting into another "tribal" war here.

I simply say, the following people have nothing at all to add to political discuss;

Paroh Frey
Depilot
Becomerich
Tpia
*Jona
Mekusxx
Sjeezy8
Babapupa

Their posts are always foul mouthed, irritating, "tribal" or in the case of Paroh Frey and Depilot, even contain threats to other users safety (something that should concern the morderators very deeply, but there is no sign it does).
These people should be firmly banned and if they keep popping up, ban again and re-ban!

I know it is not all that easy moderating this forum. There is need to balance between freedom of speech/expression and insults/threats/ tribalistic & ethnocentric posts, and this is not easy.

You will all agree with me that if this forum is too moderated, it might become boring and too legalistic hence loss of interest.

What we can do is to keep reporting excesses.

To this end I will give Kosovo some credits. he has been been very responsive to reports and most of the excesses happened when he was not online.

I expressed the same concern a few weeks ago, unfortunately, NL has settled in as a tribal forum and it ain't changing anytime soon.

A lot posters on NL sounds very immature, tribally sensitive, insecure, Ignorant of basic facts and are only interested in discussing via their tribal lenses.

Getting into discussions sometimes is nothing but a waste of internet time since every thread tends to degenerate an disintegrates along tribal lines especially with tribally insecure folks posting useless tribal threads and diverting good and meaningful threads to secure their daily tribal juice. I honestly think so it shall remain for obvious reasons.

I see the tribalists have started fighting back. No big surprise there.
In any decent, well moderated forum, rules are laid down and rules are obeyed. Divisive and hate-filled topics are disallowed completely. Why is Nairaland any different?
As if on cue, i see people trotting out inane arguments to support their position. Who cares if the Nigerian govt. practices quota system, does that mean we need to entrench divisive lines of tribalism in everything we do or say? Is there to be no inflection point where we realise what needs to be done for the future and work towards it?
What then is the point of everything if the educated young minds revert happily into the gutter we're trying to get out from? Why do we not realise the essential STUPIDITY inherent in tribal bias and tribalism? We come from a Negroid race enslaved in the past by the Arabs and by the caucasians of Europe and America simply because our difference was easily explained away as inferiority. Now, here we are keen to drive such lines of division and inferiority amongst ourselves!

Even as kids, one of the first tales we were told was about the fact that while one single broom stick was incredibly weak, a bunched group of broomsticks became far stronger. The lesson was 'together we stand, divided we fall'. Yet here we are in a nation desperately needing unity and strength to survive, and all you educated louts can think about is to further drive down the division amongst us.

There is a need for stronger, more effective moderation in Nairaland, and nowhere is it needed more than the Politics section. Tribalism aside, the fact that the mods see nothing wrong in someone posting a topic of 'Man stabs neighbour over girlfriend' or 'Man turns into goat' in a Politics section is serious cause for worry.

I admire your convictions. I hope you take time out to demonstrate your strong stand by travelling to Saudi Arabia to preach the gospel. Or by bringing in 30 Kg of Indian Hemp to Singapore or Malaysia.
You could also try jogging down a busy street in Tel Aviv with a Swastika emblazoned on your t-shirt.

Bottom line, rules are in place to be obeyed, and morally grey areas should be avoided.

Seriously, this is not even 100% about 'censorship'. in most cases, those posts and posters add nothing to the Politics section, and nothing at all to the discussion of Politics.
