I am preparing to roof my duplex and am concerned about parapet or no parapet. What type of parapet and the cost etc.
But discovering this thread has enlightened me and widen my choice.
Do you have your agent or installer in Kano or have you done any polystyrene parapet job here?
How possible is it to installed this polystyrene parapet for me in Kano? I would have send my building plan but for little modifications on the upper floor due to an afterthought use of counter lever(?) to give the roof dented edges for aesthetics.
I can arrange to have the measurement taken for me to have the total cost of installation.

Thanks man. I'll get back to you soon.
My other concerns are:
1. How tight and solid is the grief of this material to the building? Can it withstand strong winds?
2:. How long can polystyrene parapet stand alone before roofing. Must the building be roofed soon after its installation?
3. Apart from parapet, slabs and ceiling on what other parts of a building can the material be used?

Yes it can withstand winds, that is why it is good to cast along with the roof beam.

2:. How long can polystyrene parapet stand alone before roofing. Must the building be roofed soon after its installation?
it all depends on installation method, but it doesn't decompose even when exposed to the external weather

3. Apart from parapet, slabs and ceiling on what other parts of a building can the material be used?

it can also be used for wall bands and window sills.

Is this measurements in feet or meters and also is the building a perfect square or rectangle as this will affect the calculation of the linear meters.
if you have your architectural drawings, kindly send to frugesarenaltd@gmail.com so that we make an estimated cost and send to you.

sir,
am sorry but I don't deal with concrete parapet, you can speak with saydfact he is good with estimates.
also he will need the roof plan or upper floor plan as they need to consider if building has recess.

There are 3 buildings each at 115m = 115 x 3 = 345 meters

It's been a while we posted new jobs, we try not to post just the usual roof parapet. luckily a client contacted us that he needs to fill up a stage they want to cast with concrete but don't want to use rubles to fill it up because of the weight it is going to have on the building which wasn't planned on the foundation.
The stage is going to be on a rooftop of a 2 storey building and diameter to be filled is about 10 m sqr with height of 300 mm.

Re: Alternative Building Material (expanded Polystyrene) by Teewhy2: 3:02pm On Oct 23, 2019
we zoomed to work and the factory produced as requested. see details

Let's pepper our eyes with more pictures from the pepper dem gang.
1) offloading and supply of polystyrene sheet.

2-4) clients installing our polystyrene on the area to fill up. before casting the top of the stage/bar.

nice one Teewhy2 - hope we'll get to see the completed works also......

We had similar use for polystyrene at a building in Ogun State where the gallery was to be filled with same material to reduce weight as the structural engineer didn't design for that weight in mass concrete...

well done.
