The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has allegedly sealed a deal with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to become Nigeria’s President in 2023.

Speaking in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Okorocha told Journalists that as much as he has made up his mind not to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential poll, he would offer himself for the position after the end of Buhari’s tenure.

“Governor does not fit me. What fits me is President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I will not contest against Buhari in 2019, I will do so in 2023.”

Recall, that last month, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, had warned the Igbos about Okorocha’s aim to rule Nigeria in 2023.

Ihedioha, in an interview with the Vanguard, had said that Okorocha is going about his ambition the wrong way, because if any party wants to project him, they would be interested in his performance.

No Harm intended but 2023 that he is not even sure to be alive, He is already making plans to be president. Saying he will be handed over to which means elections does not count or matter. Our leaders are a Joke and they do not mean well for our country. But we will continue to live like this until there is a real revolution.

What Okorocha does not seem to know is that APC is what it is because it fielded Buhari. It was the act of fielding Buhari as its flagbearer that delivered the Northern votes needed to defeat GEJ.

Is anybody fooling themselves that if a Southerner such Tinubu had been fielded, APC would have gotten the Northern votes?

So come 2023, APC will have to field a Southerner since it cant carry on forever fielding Northern candidates. When APC does this, it will lose Northern support.

Rochas is banking on the sentiment that APC will decide to field an Igbo candidate in 2023. But their is no guarantee of this, infact, I forsee a situation where either Tinubu or Osibanjo is fielded. That might leave Okorochas ambition dead in the water for another 16 years

Osibanjo might not get the vice presidential candidate in 2019 election because of the numerous south east politicians who has decamped to APC .

The APC I suspect will give the vice presidential ticket to south east in order to get block votes from the south-east/south-south who are more than twice the south west.
