Price!... Yes prices have not been favorable to new or intending investors/buyers at all. Currently a ton is between the range of 400k - 600k in kogi state with the average hovering around 500k per ton. Now to an intending exporter this pricing is a kill joy but to the experience exporter... This price is pure Gold and trust me they are making a fortune off it and they wouldn't want it to go any lower. So how do an intending exporter or buyer benefit from this price boom?.... Hehehe hehehe, let's let out the secret.... Shall we?

Its simple, Forget about this year and plan for next year. Most of the products you see being ferried from here to Lagos for export were paid for last year at cheaper rates compared to what is being obtained in the market presently. The current prices can be likened to "black market" prices in the currency market.

Cashew season is usually between late January - Early May, the rest period of the year will be off season and this is the time when you can get your cashew for almost less than half of the price during the windfall. But be careful here to get everything right else you will have your fingers burnt.

For you to succeed with this method which the professionals call it "cluster farming", you have to be established in the locality where the products is sourced.

- Get an indigene who is knowledgeable about cashew nuts and know the farmers, to run and manage your warehouse (some villages are hostile to strangers)
