Taking the most recent case study on the Infinix first device in 2017, early this week, Infinix launched their latest device Infinix S2 Pro in Kenya and over there it selling for equivalent of N46,000, while in Nigeria, the phone is yet to be introduced and we all believed that when it finally launches, the price will cost far more than N46,000.

Though some have speculated that the reason for such large price variations is the Nigeria weakening currency, but even at that we expect to see only but slight variations in prices of Infinix devices in Kenya as compared to the prices in Nigeria.

These days, some even send their friends going to Kenya to buy them cheaper Infinix phones

Then ask yourself what the cost of shipping these products is.

Then ask yourself how heavily these products are taxed, including import duties and also how long it takes for these products to clear customs.

Then ask yourself how the difference in rent between Lagos and Nairobi might cause shops to raise prices to cover said rent.

Or how electricity prices might cause retailers to raise prices to cover said rent.

Or how increased wages might cause retailers to raise prices.

Increased taxes on business might cause an increase in prices.

And then hopefully you'll understand why you're paying more and why you do not have time to waste in mosques and churches because you have imbeciles in positions of power that you do not hold to account - we have control over some of these differences. One measure that should be taken is to ensure that there are other viable ports so that there isn't such a backlog at Apapa and Tin Can ports.
