Today I will like to write about soybean production.

Soybean offers a variety of potential benefits to the production systems, diets, and incomes of large and smallholder producers. In addition to being a potentially profitable cash crop, the high protein content (about 40%) in soybean means it could also contribute to improved nutritional status of rural households. Finally, soybean also has potential agronomic benefit of rejuvenating soils by fixing atmospheric nitrogen into the soil and decaying root residues to improve soil fertility.

At the industrial level, soybean can be transformed into edible oils, with the byproduct (cake) acting as a high quality protein source for livestock feed rations, even the stalks when processed properly can be consumed by livestock. With growing demand for high quality edible oils and livestock products, demand for soybeans is likely to remain high.
On the farm, soybean requires lesser amount of moisture, and other farm care for it to grow to maturity and produce bountiful seeds.
Despite the clear benefits, soybean production remains low in Nigeria. And this is because of the too much stress that small holder farmers need to undergo before removing the seeds from its coats/shafts term shelling". This process is very difficult when done manually and will produce just small amount of clean seed at the end of the operation.

To reduce the stress in threshing soybean we have developed a soybean thresher cum rice thresher. Our machine can thresh soybean as well as rice giving unbroken and cleaned seed at the end of its operation. Below are the specifications and some pictures of the machine.
