Just go to any government hospital, tell them you want to do a fitness test for your Nysc camping. Your blood sample would be collected and several test would be carried out based on how sophisticated the hospital is and the availability of resources. Just collect any result given to you (signed and stamped), nysc would acknowledge once it is a government hospital.
Don't bother yourself much on the processes.

The current serving corps members cannot really on this one as this is a new development,
Batch A 2016 did not do any of the aforementioned test

So my advice, go to any local government in a your area, there's NYSC office there, you can make your enquiries there

*ON THE CERTIFICATE OF MEDICAL FITNESS*

Having been informed that all PCMs are to compulsorily present the Certificate of Medical Fitness as one of the requirements for entry into the Camp, the following are the tests that each PCM is expected to undergo in a General or Military Hospitals only:

1. HIV
2. Genotype
3. Blood group
4. HBsaG
5. PCV
6. HCV
7. Urinalysis

*Also, it is expected that the REGISTRATION NUMBER and PHONE NUMBER of the doctor in charge of the test must appear on the certificate for verification. This was made known by an NYSC official during the question and answer session held on twitter few days ago.*

_Kindly take note of this and share with friends and concerned PCMs._

Thank you.

I don't understand, is it that anyone who is positive would not be allowed to go for the program or will the result be on notice boards so other members would know who to roll with and who not to?
cheesy cheesy . Naso will those with it even say dey are +. All those girls in camp that have been bleeping since 100level in Uni won't even give a f**k about the test. U just need to apply sense whole in camp

I think its a necessary move even though it was not mandatory during my time. Corps members should be protected, even from HIV.

The High Nigerian HIV Prevalence By States chart makes it even more important as the epidemic is still on the rise.

Go do it. Its just another step towards safeguarding lives.

Hello Nairalanders,
I've heard a lot of conflicting information on the requirement of medical certificate during camp registration. I know it's necessary so i did mine at My state's Civil Service Hospital. There are 5 test results on the certificate which are:

PCV
Urinalysis
Vision
Blood group
Genotype

But where i got it all confused was when i heard that there should also be HIV and STD test results on the certificate cry. Also heard that the tests must be done at a federal government hospital. Don't forget i did mine at State hospital.
Now I'm confused. Pls those with experience,
What are tests to be done?
Should there be HIV and STD tests?
And lastly, must it be at the Federal Government Hospital alone?

From what I was told, any time anybody's blood is taken for any test it is standard procedure for them to conduct H.I.V test.

No Mr! Just walk into any government or military hospital and tell them you want a medical report. They know what and what test to conduct. Today yes HIV test is inclusive. Nysc will even conduct a medical test for those that don't have the medical report in camp and since you have gotten one, that one is okay. They just need a report that says u are medically fit

You tried to use the word stigmatise right.

Maybe I should have added LOL. My statement is not targeted at anyone. It's a kind of advice to everyone including myself.

Cut off that blanket statement that you get it through other means. The virus is 99% from sex. And moreover, if you are sure of yourself, your mind won't be troubled when you hear screening.
The remaining 0.1% is the reason why I or we pray to God every morning to save us from all evils and problems.

I don't exhibit similar energy as you do to resort to name calling.

As a 2016 batch B II corper.. I can categorically tell you that the medical bla bla is not needed but try get one. As long as it states you are fit. That's all.. Hiv or not. The annoying thing is that it will be checked by a fellow dr corper like you. He/she will only look at it for a second and ask if you have any medical conditions that should be noted and if you have drugs..

Don't kill yourself for the certificate.. There will be too many people on queue in hot sun so everyone wanna move fast..

No, it's not compulsory! Nysc didn't specify any particular test that should be done. Just go to any government or military hospital and tell them you want to do a medical test of fitness, the doctors themselves would give you the neccesary test to run. During my time I did it at the military hospital at Ikeja military cantonment. All they did was collect my blood and urine. They didn't tell us the type of test that would be done only for the result to come back and I found that HIV test was done. So it all depends on the hospital. Some hospital won't even give you the result of the test instead all they would do is give you a certificate that you are medically fit and that's all Nysc needs, a certificate that you are medically fit. Note if you aren't truly fit, I would advice you state it because that will help in relocating you and you won't be sent out of the camp as people have always thought (except it's airborne like those with TB who were escorted out of the camp by the soldiers because during our own time those people refused to leave the camp, they were always running from the officials even when they announce their state code, these people always refused to come out till they were caught one day and were escorted out of the camp premises). You would only be excused from strenous activities. Just go to a government/military hospital and tell them you want to run a test for a medical certificate of fitness, they know what to do.
EVEN IF YOU ARE HIV POSITIVE, NYSC CAN'T SEND YOU OUT OF THE CAMP, NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO DO SO. DO THE TEST THE HOSPITAL ASKED YOU TO RUN AND AT THE SAME TIME ITS GOOD TO KNOW YOUR STATUS TOO wink

Since HIV test was not included in the one you did, don't bother. At the end of the day your medical certificate of fitness would not carry the results of those tests. All NYSC is concerned about is the medical certificate of fitness stating whether you are fit or not for the orientation camp. The medical certificate of fitness can be done from a government hospital ( State or federal), and a military hospital. So, you are good to go.
