The father of corruption and looting in Nigeria along with Zik, Bello and Balewa.

They enrich themselves and gave little to the people, but the people then saw it as a big thing.

You're right, guy! Awo had no one to take after him. And that's why most of his descendants today are still living in mud houses with brown roofs atop. Does that show prosperity? Awo must be taking dry gin to douse anger in d grave each time he sees that his descendants are busy hating while others are busy building bridges and homes without waiting for a failed government.

Wow!! shocked Is that why your people troop daily into that region filled with brown roof tops? Has someone said your kinsmen cannot prosper unless they eke out a living in that region with the brown roof tops and mud houses?? Pray, do tell. undecided

The most sensible conclusion I can arrive at is that Awolowo made the most terrible mistake of leadership....he had nobody to succeed him (forget all the sweet talks).

When Awolowo died, and suddenly too, he was not in a position of power. We were also in a military vice grip in which the so-called "president" Babangida had banned all political activities.

Professor's claim is therefore correct that papa Awo bequeathed us an ideology rather than a successor, which is better. It is only a shame that the Nigerian setting is toxic and has continued to destroy every good thing.

Just tell the world the Yoruba city that is modern

Remember forget Lagos....It is a settled case

You must be crazy for saying Lagos is not Yorubaland. I am indigenous Lagosian by the way. Insult your lineage but keep Lagosians out of your rubbish talk.

History Revisionism.
The Southwest is the only part of the south that capitulated to british rule without a whimper. Probably fortunate though given the fact that without the british, the ancient yorubas would have decimated themselves completly to a minority population through their many long and bloody ethnic civil wars.
As for the rest of the south through the creeks of the niger-delta to the eastern terrains, the british redcoats were waging wars after wars for decades trying to put down groups of people who refused to be conquered.

Don't insult the memory of Zik by putting him along with these charlatans. Zik is the greatest Nigerian in history. While the likes of awo and Balewa were playing ethnic ludo, Zik was philosophizing for African renaisance.

The thread is about achievements and not silly chest beating.

ZIK was the premier of the eastern region just like Awolowo was the premier of the western region.

List exactly Zik's achievements as the premier of the eastern region. Nothing I mean nothing.

The heart and soul of this nation is crying out for a man of extraordinary passion and zeal to light up the darkness in which the nation has found herself, a man who will make us dream deeply. A man who, in all conviction, will point our weary souls to heaven and say 'my people, that is where I want to take you to, that is what I want to transform this country into - paradise on earth. And I swear that nothing would stop me, not even God. So help me God!'

A man who will create a vision so fantastic, so romantic and prophetic that our only natural response to him will be doubt-doubt because we've been ass-fvcked by this knaves called politicians for too long. We will doubt but our very doubts will be like fire in his bones, it would drive him on, and on. All the men in this nation are waiting for the one man who will sound the trumpet call to build not just a nation but a civilization.

O, we are tired of failing as a people, we are tired of being compressed within the walls of a world that mocks and laughs at our true potential. We are tired of smallness, our hearts despair at the daily hopelessness and poverty that dogs us. Our whole being says 'enough'!

I do believe that such a man will come very soon. The national spirito- psychological conditions are ripe for the emergence of such a man. He will be a young man. He will come. They always come.

Finally all you tribal guttermouths on this thread, parochial fools, irredeemable, blind creeps and twerps, I pour scorn on all of you. Shitheads

Let me break economics down....Igbo economics is based on group economics....We buy from ourselves

Then when we move out of our region, we create a niche and make money...During Christmas and Easter we all head home...So also the money

Now when Yoruba don't travel ,they don't do us...In short we enjoy it. We keep the eastern economies and south south economies to ourselves ...We keep the money at home and at the same time repatriation of overseas based ones ...To ensure business continuity and spread the over sea wealth...We just simply go back pick our kinsmen and teach him the business all these going on while you are doing great owambe and eating amala or asking for owo mi da

This is the same thing Chinese do...And that's why Igbo cities are cool today. Oh if you have e training wked to eastern cities you will understand but we don't want you to travel. We want you to assume that your place is the estimate so that we don't want your eyes to open

Chinese's are doing it in Lagos and Africa ..
Asians are doing that in Lagos and Africa
Igbo are doing it in Lagos and Africa

Fortune favours the brave ...no venture no success

But, we want you to be in your region and populate that place so that we can have a better market ..Don't travel. It is pointless, let's bring the business to you. Don't worry ...Ever heard of the term....Igbo sense

Oh we are still the most educated....So the skilled jobs in your place we take some slice off it and still have our jobs back home to ourselves

Best of both world....One Nigeria is fantastic...We must all enjoy it for now....If Biafra come....We reoatraiate forex( he will get agitated)

Be massaging your ego with monumental ignorance. You are entitled to your limited knowledge. I'm quite sure you haven't travelled beyond your village and Lagos. By the time you travel abroad (by abroad I mean western countries like Canada, USA, UK, Scandinavia countries etc and not cambodia, malaysia, vietnam, phillipines, Indonesia) reality will slap you in the face just like he has done many of your brothers I have met here in Canada. Many of them licking Yoruba asses up and down. The ratio of Igbos to Yorubas in Canada is like 1:4, that of USA is like 1:2, and UK will surely be up to if not more than 1:8. These figures are fact. Yorubas don't have to travel to your less developed region to show that they travel. God forbid us from moving backwards. Guess what these Yorubas do annually, they send multimillions of foreign currency to their family back home. Some of them even go back home to set up state of the art companies after spending years abroad.
