Well in a country like Nigeria that lacks pedestrian walk way on most of her road, where pedestrians have to risk their lives daily by making do with whatever path is beside the road. I think this piece might be a little instructive.

1. Backing moving cars: Pedestrians usually, even unconsciously back moving cars. Instead, face incoming cars so as to not to be caught unawares by an impending danger.

2. Walking side by side: Most times you would see pedestrians walking side by side especially when in a group. Rather, strive to be on a single file while treading the roadside.

3. Using your phone: This could come in various mannerisms like chatting with your phone, receiving a call, using your earpiece etc. All these would easily distract you which could be disastrous on the roadside.

4. Doing strong-head: Most pedestrians are guilty of this in the sense that they would see a car heading directly at them yet they would be determined not to move rather telling the driver to steer away from them. Hello? If it was a cow heading at you, won't you run away? Please let's be guided.

5. Abysmal crossing: The basic rule is to look at your left first, then your right, then your left again before crossing.

6. Staying beside waterlogged areas: If walking on the road, you arrive at an area that is waterlogged try to move past that area as soon as possible so as to avoid a situation where a car will splash water on you. You know the car can't fly right?
