This year’s activity marked the brand’s fourth consecutive year of awarding scholarships to top performing kids.


The 2017 Children’s Day celebration is one that several children across the country will not forget in a hurry as leading smartphone manufacturer, TECNO decided to take their annual Children’s Day celebration to major cities across Nigeria.

Though previous scholarships have been centered on only one city per time, this year, the mobile brand decided to extend the opportunity to children in both government primary and secondary schools across the country.
The activity that was titled “I Am The Future” visited selected schools across the country to distribute books and other educational materials to the pupils.

Also, exams were conducted for these children and the most outstanding kids were immediately awarded N100,000 scholarship award.
Among the winners for this year’s scholarship prize award are Tom Divine of Ilupeju Primary School and Hamzat Quadri of Community Primary School Ilupeju, Mushin LGA of Lagos.

Winners and runners-up who emerged from other states were gifted various devices including Tecno DroidPad 7 tablets, W3 and Y2 smartphones for their use.

Other consolation prizes included iFlux LED lamps and other gift items for the Parents as well.

Though the contribution of private and government stakeholders in the educational sector cannot be exhausted due to the dynamic nature of education itself and its relevance to our everyday realities, it is important that while we implore the relevant government stakeholders to assume more responsibilities for the growth and development of children, private entities shouldn’t neglect the opportunity also to cushion the gap and give our children the opportunities for competitiveness that they deserve like TECNO Mobile is already doing.
