After World War 1, Britain ruled most of Arabia; that isTrans-Jordan (Jordan), Palestine, which is present-day Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and Iraq as mandates. Before then these Arabian states were colonised by the Ottoman Turks, the ancestors of present day Turkey. Egypt was also colonized by Britain earlier on.
