Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, CFR (24 August 1937 – 7 July 1998), often referred to as M. K. O. Abiola, was a popular Nigerian Yoruba businessman, publisher, politician and aristocrat of the Yoruba Egba clan. He ran for the presidency in 1993, and is widely regarded as the presumed winner of the inconclusive election since no official final results were announced. He died in 1998, after being denied victory when the entire election results were dubiously annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida because of alleged evidence that they were corrupt and unfair.

May the soul of the departed rest in peace. Not because he's Abiola but because every soul created by God deserves eternal rest. Haven said that, I heard some western states declared today a public holiday in honour of this man. If that's true, the afonjas should kia kia be served a quit notice too to vacate Nigeria. Who are they to declare public holiday when the northern federal government has not granted them permission. When it comes to anything related to the Igbo tribe, they will be jumping upanda like goats in heat period all over nairaland. Carrying the matter on their heads like galla.
