Consequent upon governor Umahi's submission about Ebonyi not being ready for either restructuring or secession and the negative comments that came with such honest position, I wish to state that over 80% of the States that make up the Federation are not ready; the governor was just the first to admit it.

Asides the 6 states that make up the SS and Lagos, no other state is ready to be on its own just yet.

I do not need to go into statistics about what state generated how much revenue. A mere look at the infrastructure on ground in the various states would convince you to this fact.

I understand that the activities of the murderous Fulani herdsmen and the overzealousness of the Hausa people has pushed a lot of us into wanting out without stopping to think about the consequences of our actions. But to lambast the governor for stating the truth in the manner some people did is to be simple-minded.

I want out too. But without the growth mechanisms put in place, we are only needlessly being self-destructive and over-reactive.

For some states, things can only get worse. A la Britain. Today, Britain is worse off than she was prior to the referendum.

At the time when David Cameron announced the date of the EU referendum, Britain was the fastest growing economy in the western world. So they thought they had all it takes to be on their own. Today, however, the realities are different.

Not only have they become the laughing stock of Europe, but their currency has weakened. Inflation soared from 0.5% to about 2.9% - making it six times higher than it was pre-referendum. Their wage growth now stands at 1.7%. These are the realities for Britain in spite of its big, attractive Economy and knowledgeable population.

Given the same numbers, can your state or region survive this? How much can your state generate all by itself? How much workload can she take?

I am all for an independence from the Hausa-Fulani controlled Nigeria, but for now, most states are not ready yet.

It's suicidal to want out just because we hate a certain tribe.

How old is Ebonyi and what has it been doing with the monthly federal allocation for the length of time it has existed as a state?

Ebonyi is Biafra problem, does Umuahi know that? If he cannot steer his state in the course of change to a new political system then he need to be booted out and somebody else placed there that can. Thats how u effect change!

100% of states are ready for restructuring, referendum, separation. If a state believes they are not ready then they need to account for what they have done with money from oil. Now we see who Nigerian parasites are for real.

In SW, Lagos Ogun Oyo and Ondo will be ok.

Ekiti and Osun will be moderate.

In fact we will have nothing less than 12 states in our region

Lagos -- mainland and island states

Oyo -- Ibadan, Oke-Ogun and Oyo states

Ogun - Yewa or Ijebu and Ogun

Osun -- Osun and Oduduwa (Ife and Ijesha)

Ekiti -- remain same

Ondo -- will be divided into 2.

No matter how you wanna view it currently I see only Lagos state picking up the pace because their economy is majorly private sector driven.
Other oil producing states in the SS would struggle a bit before they stabilize, due to politics, militancy, poor governance.
In the SW states closer to Lagos would also benefit.
As for the SE, do not deceive yourselves, what are you producing and where are the funds to build airports, dredge seaports etc?

Ogun State is doing quite alright. More so, it will benefit massively from its proximity to Lagos.

Rubbish. Most Governors have lazy head. Most climb to podium with the aim to have a share of oil money not necessarily to think of ways to develop their state and why it is so is because of the current structure of government and governance in Nigeria. The system encourages nothing but laziness. States should be viable and not subjected to begging as it currently is. That''s the main reason to restructure so that they can become innovative. Restructuring will also make great mind and visionary leaders to lead instead of egg heads. grin grin grin grin grin. Because if you dont have what to offer the state is most likely you wont win election or be re-elected if at all. Restructuring is good is only lazy minds that will not accept such an improvement prescription. Secession is also not a bad idea instead of living as cat and Mouse.

South south state will survive. Federal a location to state like bayelsa is 8billion, and the parrels of oil per day is 357000*30 days x50 dollar = 535500000dollar this is what bagels alone will b generating every month. And you say bayelsa can't stand alone. If restructuring happens today most of those industries in Lagos will relocate due to other state that will build seaport and taxational issue. Get it. Let restructure first , from there we can know which state can stand or can't stand. If you think oil is nothing ,ask Saudi Arabia, or the richest woman in Africa , Lagos didnt make her rich is ss oil that she is spending.

Yoruba reasoning.
Wasn't expecting less from a Yoruba man.
SS states will do better than any other state including Lagos.
