Presidency promoting Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen terrorists.
Shehu Garba should ask his sick old man boss to address the terrorism of his boys instead of worrying about social media for exposing his massive failure.

Yes, Mr Shehu is right.

Especially here on Nairaland, it has become so annoying to read threads on certain segments like Politics and crime....90% of the thread comments are tribalistic in nature. And some of the topics too are so tribal....one gets disgusted. And you see people throwing abuse at each other...all in the name of NCAN

And if people complain....we don't get listened to sometimes.

Things have got to change. We should stop encouraging tribalist sentiments....and start encouraging sane and useful discussion.

Dear All,

I strongly believe that if we leave the issue of tribe(s) vs Governance in Nigeria. The truly meaning of Government will be felt. It is a pity that we have left our collective responsibilities to be shadowed by our individualismatics. As this continues the essence of Governance wont be achieved even if you bring in Barak Obama to rule us.

Well this is very true.

However, our moronic president kicked it off with his 97% and 5% theory, he should be blamed squarely for the unprecedented tribal division in the country.

Mallam, I think you have always been in the best position to have advised Buhari to quickly shelf his idea of 5%? That has been opium making most Nigerians go wild on this issue of tribalism.

No Sir. Social Media is only laying emphasis on what this administration started. Your boss started the tribal bruhaha via his appointments, so you guys should deal with it. I must also remind you sir, that you have chucked 98.9% of the ethics of the media profession into the bin just to remain relevant in this administration oooo.

When a particular region seems to be more favoured and desired at the expense of some other regions, the aggrieved regions will assume that particular region/tribe is been cheated because they're not of the leader's tribe, hence, tribal division!

When our leaders make careless statement against certain regions like 97% versus 5% statement, it stirs up tribal division!

When youths are not productively engaged, they find a way of whiling away the time by pouring out their minds through the social media about the happenings in the country!

More so, our leaders enjoys us being divided through tribal and religious affiliations, so that they will not be questioned or be made accountable, so they deliberately stir up something for the youths to start dwelling on on the social media!

Let every region be equally treated and see if the noise on tribalism will not reduce!
Let there be jobs for the youths with conducive environment and see if the noise on tribalism will not reduce!

Brb, off to the kitchen!
Very insightful comment

My vote brought Apc and PMB to power, but I am disappointed that he started all the division and segregation through the one- sided favoured appointments made. So sad that Nigeria have never been this divided before, PMB whom I have respect for, APC and which I sympathise with have allowed this country to be going this way.

Social media inadvertently brings to the fore what happens within the polity. So if you say social media promotes tribalism, do your part to solve the root of the problem like the lopsided appointments in this administration at the FG, the 97/5 infamous talk by Buhari in DC in July 2015 and so on.
If there was little or no tribalism in the country, social media will have nothing to promote in that aspect and move to another issue. As Sir Issac Newton observed centuries ago: 'for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction'.
You're very right bro. Tribalism started due to the lopsided appointment that favoured a particular region

True, Nairaland is where most confused semi/illiterates and zoo graduates battle for supremacy, is either we shut it down or sanitize it to be more accommodating to us the real civilized citizen if this great country.

Yoruba and Igbo shiit is getting out of hand.

Waiting for one semi-illiterate to ban me and go to hell.

Its because most Nigerians are Cowards who are grateful they can hide under false identities on social media to display their real identities. Most yoruba hating igbos after venting their frustrations on nairaland and other blogs jump on the streets of yorubaland to make a living......
Igbo hating yorubas simply just accept the igbo as a neighbor to be wary of and continue doing business with the igbos after venting their frustrations on nairaland and other blogs
COWARDS

Abegi sad Nigeria has been divided along ethnic lines since the days of yore. Social Media is just there to let you know about it. Besides what's the headache about social media. Its just peoples opinion on display.

That never caused GEJ to appoint majorly SS and SE into key positions in his cabinet.

It was not the cause of GMB talk of 95% to 5% ruling style.

Why not focus on what matters and make real change for progress happen rather than blaming Social Media. undecided
