This came after days of speculations by relevant stakeholders as to what comes next regarding Etisalat Group’s withdrawal of the right to the continued use of the Etisalat brand in Nigeria by Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd. (EMTS).

The telecoms firm retained the ‘9janess’by invariably deciding on ‘9’ in 9Mobile due to the following reasons, as gathered by Brand Spur Nigeria:

I remember back then, they started it! When you load 200 card them go give u free mb.. Guys come de rush to get Etisalat sim..
Dem mtn and others come the copy copy.. As dem come get leverage they now made things difficult for Etisalat cause they have more customers forcing Etisalat to increase their data charges hence why Etisalat data is the more expensive amongst all telecomms...
