I have to raise this topic because I have been trying to understand why EU countries issue shenghen visa. To me that name sounds chinese . what is the real meaning of shenghen? Ccc Lalastic lala pls help push did to front page so that the gurus in the house can help clearify this issue for some of us that don't know. Thanks |

Schengen has nothing to do with EU. Britain and Republic of Ireland are in the EU but are not in the schengen borderless agreement. Norway and Switzerland are not members of the EU but are part of schengen agreement. The Schengen Area is an area comprising 26 European states that have officially abolished passport and all other types of border control at their mutual border.
