Why North Fears Restructuring – Masari, Katsina State Governor by Kazim88: 3:31pm On Jul 31, 2017
From: Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has disclosed that the North’s over dependence on what is coming from the centre is the source of fear by the region over the agitation of restructuring by the North.
“This over dependence on allocation from the centre must stop if we are to progress. We have the population, we have both human and material resources; but we must have the political will to do the right thing” he added.
Masari made the disclosure, yesterday, while launching the production of PVC Pipes by AMPRI GLOBAL Limited at their production sites in Kankia, Katsina State.
He noted that the only way out was through the promotion of medium and small scale businesses to provide revenue for both the state and local governments and generate employment for the youth to boost their economic status.

According to the governor the Kankia Metal Works was leased to the AMPRI GLOBAL Limited in order to put machineries provided at the site to proper use and ease the government wasteful spending in maintaining the facility even though it was not operating.
In a remark, the state commissioner of commerce, industry and tourism, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf said with the commencement of production of PVC by the company it had fully completed its full package of production lines.
He assured the people of the state that the present administration was committed to the resuscitation of additional industries and establishment of new ones in the state through partnership with prospective investors.

I have this feeling he is not being completely honest. How much IGR does his state generate?
Are they not dependent on oil?
Can they pay salaries without allocation?
What do they contribute to the federal purse?

Why not read the post first.

He admitted the problem is overdependency on oil revenue...

He also suggested a solution... creating small and medium enterprise... creating jobs...

You have pick up banners and protest... make sure u have an international lawyer in your side, make sure you from a strong family... then lastly once you start no going back...

But If you think they would give you restructuring for free you are ignorant.
Even it is your right according to International Law and general principle
Ask your self
1: who can go the extra mile, with all his might, selflessly to get that Restructuring just the way Kanu is doing

2: Who would support him with their life and resources to make sure everyone get restructuring Like the way the whole SS/SE are flying their flag with full believe.

Surprise Surprise it's about allocation money. Who would have guessed. Anyway it's good he sees need to change status quo. There plenty of potential to be exploited.

“This over dependence on allocation from the centre must stop if we are to progress. We have the population, we have both human and material resources; but we must have the political will to do the right thing” he added.

@FoolishBoy419 care to speak on the governors statement. Please don't pretend I didn't tell you first. When they said certain restructuring would put them at political and economic disadvantage it's obvious the we're referring to allocation.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has disclosed that the North’s over dependence on what is coming from the centre is the source of fear by the region over the agitation of restructuring by the North.

Masari made the

He should expatiate further on the human resource.

Is he talking about millions of uneducated almajiris or the human walking bombs that has been adopted by BH, the peadophiles and baby kidnapping emirs making brides off girl children to satisfy their lust for virgins

All these idiots do is talk whilst they train their own children abroad and allowed ordinary northerners wallow in abject poverty and ignorance.

Bunch of wicked and heartless leaders.

First, in the next 10 years Oil would be either so cheap, useless or had dried up...

We are face with the inevitable... We must man up to it.

The North with her capacity can produce enough food that we can export to the whole Africa... but as at now they can't even feed the North, North still import food..
Just 70 years ago... they was the Great groundnut Pyramid of the North..

Until Britain came and killed the North Advantage, Agriculture...

North was very rich... if you check your History... and comparing it with now, you would cry..

it was a feudal political and economic system.... All the commoners were farmers and they were tax.... It was the Brit that destroyed it because they wanted to steal Oil... they made the North depend on oil so as to use them thief oil....

North must find there soul.... Not competing with the south...

I suggest we break up.. but keep sharing the resources for sometime to enable everyone adjust...

Britain didn't "kill" anything, the oil boom did. Look up Dutch Disease: the influx of huge sums of petrodollars after 1970 made domestic agriculture uncompetitive with imports, which destroyed the commercial basis for groundnut farming in the north (as well as the textile industries in the region). Unfortunately, Nigerians were too busy scrambling for their share of the windfall profits from oil to know or care about how the domestic economy was being hollowed out by the "strong" Naira people love so much - until the oil boom ended and reality slapped them hard in the face.

@kazim88, the British did not destroy anything but our lack of foresight and love for easy source of wealth. Also, all these agriculture rhetorics are not funny anymore. But for few agricultural produces,we produce enough that can feed the nation. Check data on yam, cassava, tomatoes etc. We do lose over 50 percent to lack of proper storage, processing etc. i think we need serious agro allied and innovative industrial revolution which can only be achieved through proper manpower development.

If the north had allowed devolution of powers, many states or regions of nigeria would today be in partnership with mining companies to develop their economy, export agricultural and industrial products, build power stations, rail infrastructure etc which would boost their IGR.

But the north thinks more about stopping others than development of everybody. They are worried if other regions develop, they are building a nation within Nigeria using their own exact words. In the process of trying to suppress other regions from having the power to develop their economy, the north suppressed themselves. Not to mention the severe hatred such deliberate repression policy of other parts of Nigeria breed among the people to severely damage unity

You are right!! Deeply Igbos don't want restructuring, what they want is outright secession provided they are allowed to secede with oil producing part of the S/South and a guarantee sea access. They know restructuring which guarantees true federalism and resource control that will isolate their SE region from the SS is like a death penalty to them and they will fight all they can to go against such restructuring.
Ibos and the North share the same apprehension about restructuring of Nigeria
