States will continue to rely on FG for funds because the FG has confiscated all the essential revenue sources in this country leaving the states only petty revenues. This woman knows what to do but she is too scared to say it.

It will have a spiral positive effect on the private sector.

Small businesses will spring up, govt will create policies that will favour them.

It will be a win win situation for all of them.

Taxes will be paid, and every state will develop!!

Welcome to America !!

I will say this a thousand times, true federalism isn't the panacea to the myriad of problems bedevilling our dear country, bureaucratic corruption is.

If power and resources are devolved to the states and we have what we colloquially call "true federalism", the scourge of corruption which has stymied the growth of our economy for eons would simply relocate her headquarters down to the states! As a matter of fact, even with the status quo, in my own assessment, corruption prevails in the states more than the federal level.

If I were to suggest a way out of the quagmire, I'd say we totally "de-comercialise" our democratic processes and institutions.

Make that teacher in the classroom earn more than that councillor in the wards.

Make that lecturer earn more than that Assembly member and Federal legislator.

Make that nurse and doctor earn more than that commissioner and minister.

Make that researcher earn more than that governor!

This way anyone not cut out for a life of sacrifice and servitude wouldn't go nowhere close to the vaults at both the state and federal level.

In civilised societies, the take home of political office holders are calculated as a percentage of the minimum wage; what system do we have in place here? Some crooks wake up and sit leisurely under some roof filled with green and red seats and alot all manner of scandalous privileges to themselves while the people simply look on helplessly!

If we wanna check the decay in the system and we are honest about it, in my opinion, this should be the starting point.

I don talk my own finish.

You get sense, when their major source of income is tax from development of their resources and private sector, the State Governors would work to ensure these areas function properly.

The senate would revisit devolution of powers in September, but the concern they have is in leaving valuable resources in the hands of a Governor who may be corrupt, and it may in the process leave the Federal Government totally powerless.

Where is that bloody constitution? Found it. Madam, the 2nd schedule is the way to that eldorado that you seek. You want to stop seeing the ugly faces of those finance commissioners in the FCT,then you 've got to get your party guys talking about "true federalism" and "resource control" again. Damn. Those phrases are becoming worn out.

damn! you pretty well understand restructuring unlike some gap toothed democratic rule abortionist and fellow opportunists including some PDP slumdog hirelings called Igbos desecrating the beautiful word when they rabidly foam in the mouth and brain while shamelessly employing the word as a new political phraseology to hide their cumulative leadership failure that reached a crescendo at the 2015 defeat which they ,unrepentantly, are yet to learn some lessons from.

Just ask them what is restructuring and observe their insane reactions.
