- Yemi Osinbajo says leaders of the marginalisation talks are doing it to get political appointment - Osinbajo also warned that it is wrong to equate hate speech as freedom of expression Following calls for restructuring of the country, Nigeria's Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, August 2, said individuals making marginalisation charges are not doing it for the people but to get political appointment. NAIJ.com gathered that Osinbajo speaking at a seminar of the Institute of Security Studies, said it was wrong to equate hate speech as freedom of expression, adding that “hate speech precedes tragedies in human history”. Term mere geographic expression is not original to Nigeria.” “It is also a false narrative one group is more corrupt than the other. Not so. If you look at a corruption charge sheet, there is unity you find all ethnic and religious groups equally represented in corruption. There’s complete unity in the business of corruption. “It is also a false narrative that we are better off when ethnic groups are on their own. While different groups have strength we are better united. “It is also not true that those who make marginalisation charges are altruistic. Often what they are saying is I am marginalised-‘appoint me’.” Some prominent citizens have been calling for a restructuring of the country, citing the alleged marginalisation of their section of the country as a reason for the call. In a previous report by NAIJ.com, Osinbajo revealed that one of the top priorities of the current administration remains the fight against corruption. Osinbajo, who spoke on Tuesday, May 23, in Kano while declaring open the 2nd Kano Economic and Investment Summit, said: “We will remain committed on the three focused areas which include fighting corruption, insurgency and providing employment to the teeming number of unemployed youths in the country.” PAY ATTENTION: Read the news on Nigeria’s #1 new app The acting president said that the summit was in line with the efforts of the federal government’s to ensure economic growth and development in the country. https://www.naij.com/1118217-people-calling-marginalisation-talks-political-appointment-osinbajo.html
