A generational gap was filled Saturday as the Obuzor of Ibusa, Prof. Louis Nwaoboshi led some Ibusa youths to some historical locations in Ibusa, Oshimili North LGA, Delta state.

The majestic excursion which started at about 11.00am at the palace of the Royal Father was attended by Hon. Innocent Esewezie, the special adviser to Delta state Governor on youth development, Alfred Isoh, the president of Ibusa youths council, Austin Eloka Ajufo amongst others.

The tour of the landmarks around the town commenced with a visit to Anioshe, the arrival point of the founder of the town about 525 years ago. Other places visited were Ikelike, Omuoha, Ani-udo, Oshenta, Ukwu Omah, Ogbolu-Ezebuogu, Ashia Olie, Ashia Ezemese, Ezemeseodi and Ottu.

While speaking after the tour at his palace, the Obuzor appreciated the youths for their desire to learn more about their history and ancestors. He urged them to forge ahead by reading traditional books to improve their knowledge.

Meanwhile, Hon. Esewezie emphasized on the importance of the excursion on today's young people who hardly know much about the historical journey of Ibusa people. He described what happened as something that has never happened in the history of the community.

"It has to do with our history, it has to do with where we are coming from, it's about who we are because we don't learn our history in school," the special adviser said.

"The idea is to inculcate our history and culture in the youths. Like today, we learnt a lot. I heard of many names that I did not know before. I also got to know about the many boundary issues with Asaba, Ogwashi-uku, Okpanam, all these were the missing information that was not available to the youths of Ibusa. So the essence of this historical tour is to bring us back to our senses." he said.

Joining Hon Esewezie in appreciating the youths, Sir Alfred Isoh, commended everyone who turned out. He also thanked the Obuzor for making out time to educate the youths, he concluded by saying "with the knowledge learnt today, we have a lot to tell our children. "
