- The investigation shows that the north-west region has the highest amount of lawmakers who have failed to sponsor any bill

- Members of the lower legislative house from the south-south seem to have sponsored the most amount of bills so far

- The Federal Capital Territory has the least amount of lawmakers - two- out of which, just one has sponsored a bill

More than two years after assuming office, at least 161 members of the House of Representatives have not yet sponsored a single bill, Daily Trust reports.

According to the investigation, since their inauguration on June 9, 2015, only 199 members out of the 360-member strong House of Reps have sponsored at least one bill.

Within 26 months out of their 4-year tenure, the representatives have pocketed at least N32 billion in allowances and salaries; with individual members netting at least N214.7m each.

A breakdown of the bills record of the lawmakers show that the north-west has the highest amount of reps without a single bill as 60 out of the region’s 91 members have not turned in a bill.

In the north-east region, 25 lawmakers out of 48 have no bills to their names while 16 reps from the north-central out of the regions 49 members, are yet to sponsor a bill.

From the south-west, 32 out of 72 members have not presented any bill while 19 lawmakers from the south-south out of 55, have not turned in any bill.

In the south-east, only 8 individuals out of the region’s 43 lawmakers have sponsored a bill. Out of the 2 honorable members representing the Federal Capital Territory, only one has sponsored a bill.

Meanwhile, It was previously reported that there was a ripple of excitement among members of the House of Representatives as more than 200 members took delivery of their exotic cars for 'utility services'.

Abdulrazak Namdas, chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, confirmed this on Sunday, August 6.

He said the vehicles were Peugeot 508 series and that the plan was for all members to get theirs before the end of the year.

I hope those are not 199 new laws because all they do is increase red tape, making delivery of services by government unnecessarily long and complicated.

And create more opportunities for corruption.

(Unless they are sensible laws like sexual offences laws, domestic abuse, getting rid of incapacitated presidents laws and child protection laws grin )
