Just recently Bell Pottinger brought an avoidable crisis upon themselves by not upholding ethical standard which they advocate for their clients in order to prevent crisis.

Justine Sacco the head of corporate communications of a New York based internet empire *InterActive Corp* (which owns more than 150 Internet brands, including Ask.com, About.com, CollegeHumor Media, Electus, The Daily Beast, Match.com, HomeAdvisor and Vimeo) was about to visit her family based in South Africa.

Shortly before she boarded a flight from London to Cape Town she tweeted: *_Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!_*

*Reactions:*

This tweet got over 2000 retweets and unleashed a torrent of outrage on social-media.

People were so angry that hashtag _ _*#HasJustineLandedYet*_ started trending on Twitter.

By the time she disembarked her comment on Aids had been picked up by Buzzfeed and some other media including some mainstream media.

This attack on people living with AIDs and Africa put the reputation of InterActive Corp under seriously threat.

*Results:*

Few days later in other to protect the company’s reputation Justine Sacco was dismissed for what the company called _“hateful statements”._

A statement released by InterActive Corp (IAC) said: _“The offensive comment does not reflect the views and values of IAC. We take this issue very seriously, and we have parted ways with the employee in question”._
