The Administrative Panel of Inquiry on alleged corrupt practices by 89 politicians has banned Governor Bola Tinubu and over 40 others from holding public office.

A White Paper on the affected persons was released on Tuesday after the ratification of the recommendations of the panel by an extraordinary meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

The Federal Ministry of Justice had on Thursday inaugurated the six-man panel, which was headed by the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Prof. Ignatius Ayua.

The panel was set up following the Federal Government’s release of a list of the public office-holders and others, who were allegedly considered unfit for elective positions.

Although the panel submitted its report to President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday, there were strong indications that over 40 people had been banned from holding public office.

Investigations by our correspondents showed that those banned might not be allowed to contest the April poll.

But the list of those axed was kept under wraps as at press time on Tuesday by the government.

A highly-placed source in the Presidency, who spoke in confidence with one of our correspondents in Abuja, however, gave an insight into the list.

He said apart from Tinubu, those that would be disallowed from holding public office are governors Orji Kalu (Abia State); Ibrahim Shekarau (Kano); and Modu Ali Sheriff (Borno); a former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige; and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State, Alhaji Jibril Alhassan.

THis is another way of preventing them from campaigning. The nigerian politics is turning into something else.

this is a nice one. on the other hand, Chris Uba, Andy Uba, Adedibu, Bode George, Tony Annenih and all other pro-third term politicians will be issued with certificates as secred cows of Nigeria.
Obj has succeeded in reducing himself to nothing if till now Adedibu in whose house six INEC machines were found is still parading in the streets of the country with police and INEC not seeing any reason to arrest him not even asking him why.
i know by now the police who headed the discovery is either dead or has lost him job.
if andy uba who was confirmed to have smuggled out us$170,000.00 into the usa via presidential jet is not qisqualified and his brother who held anambra to ransom for months are all free people.
bode george whose issue of missing 83 billion naira in the NPA is not an issue while Tony Annenih who diverted 300 billion mearnt for roads is yet a saint in the aso rock.
let obj remember the likes of nebukadineze in the bilble, saddam hussien of our time, samuel doe of liberia, idi amin of uganda, hitler of germany, charles taylor of liberia and our own Abacha as they once felt that there is no other God before, beside and above them.
for all that lived by sword died by sword and the God of the whole weeping nigerians, the God of liberation and the God who knows how rich he was before 1999 and who knows how rich he is now will surely prove himself to him and others for looking away from the dying masses.

OOO my God, we are back in the last days of Abacha.
When some people are banned fron contesting while those close to Aso are given full right to.

What about the Alao-Akala, Bode George, Chirs Uba, PeterOdili and my State Guv --Gbenga Daniel ( alot have being written about him by DDMovement and he never for once denounce the figure)
Why is OBJ ( he only has less than 100days in ASSO rock) in a hurry to ban some people using the EFCC report as a cover ?
According to the ACT establishing EFCC, all those that are indicted by their reports should be prosecuted in the court of law not a Kagarooo Panel setup by the PDP led fed. Govt. Remember the jugdement delived by Justice Inumidun Akande as per the indictment of Chief Fasawe??

Why are OBJ and RIBADU  not learning from their past mistakes?

why is Ibrahim Mantu not banned? this is a man that was publicly disgraced by the present minister of the FCT, he was accused by the minister of telling him to pay a bribe of 50million naira b4 he would be endorsed as a minister by the senate we all knew what happened then. if OBj will come out openly and say that Gov Gbenga Daniel should be forgiven for his theft and corruption why shouldnt others be forgiven too.we all knew that OBJ's daughter sent assasins to kill the guy she was contesting against but she wasnt banned, why is that so? this is never the way to fight corruption. it's either u do it well or u dont do it at all, a thief(OBJ) has no right to call others thieves period.
