XD3G:
In a foreign land, you should have documents (Passport, Visa,Ticket etc) that will prove your stay is not illegal with you 24/7.
This is the expected norm in most Countries, nothing racist in all you have narrated

You're right, don't mind the asshats.

OP was even going to resist arrest. Imagine.

Just because they are from a country where anything goes they've lost their moral center.

Nice info. Never bothered to move around with any ID. Please can photocopies do as it's risky carrying passport (and sometimes resident cards) around

You're misleading people.

In a foreign country, you are supposed to carry the document that gave you right to be within it's borders.

That you don't care to follow the law doesn't mean that people like me won't stand up to you when you mislead others like you're doing here.

Others have said the same thing.

Why did the Police follow the OP to his hotel room to verify his passport? Why was he told to always carry his passport by them?

For those in the US beating their chest that they don't or don't have to carry shyte, your comeuppance is on it's way.

"The Law: Registration and Carrying of Registration Documents

Section 262 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) dictates that almost all foreign nationals in the U.S. must be “registered” with the proper government agency. For example, registration happens when someone is admitted into the U.S. at the border or if someone’s status in the U.S. is extended or changed. The registration is a mechanical process, set in the law and in existence for many years, and has been well established and are fairly transparent – many foreign nationals do not even realize (nor do they often need to) that their status in the U.S. has been “registered” with the government. After the registration takes place, Section 264(d) requires the U.S. government to provide a “registration certificate” to the foreign national.

This is where the requirement to carry registration evidence comes in. Section 264(e) of INA requires every individual over the age of 18 to carry their “registration” documents with them at all times. Specifically, section 264(e) reads:

e) Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d)

[where the government issues a “registration certificate” after each foreign national’s registration]. Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.
Many of our clients and readers are surprised to learn about this requirement – and the reason is simply that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has generally not enforced the “at all times” language. Often the requirement has been satisfied by an expectation (and ability) that the foreign national would be able to produce the registration document within certain period of time — perhaps by getting them from home or from a safe deposit box."

Most of my writings are from personal experience, not my uncle brothers nephews friend says so.

When I used to be a green card holder, I was detained at customs by a customs agent when I went to collect an engine that I imported from UK. This was in an office in Long Beach and nowhere near the border.

I was verbally told and made to sign a documents that I have been told to always carry my green card on me so no excuse in the future. I was also told there that passports are to be carried by visiting aliens in the country.

When they deport you guys please don't blame me if I laugh.

My life doesn't revolve around Google and its not my primary means of education. It's showing that it's yours.

So asking to identify a foreign alien is now an illegal police act?

People are just content to be treated as an inferior or 2nd class citizens. One don't have to be a lawyer to know certain rules/ laws that pertain to you. You've got access everywhere to learn. You've got computers and smart phones. But instead of growing knowledge wise, they waste the little brain cells left by spending all their time on social media.

You visited Europe and were lucky that you didn't come across an inquisitive officer doesn't make what you did legal. It just means that you were lucky.

I drive approximately 80 to 100 mph to work but the speed limit is 65mph. That I haven;t been caught doesn;t mean that what I'm doing is legal.

Next time don't refer me to Google. Just make your argument.

maybe some ibo drug dealers operated there and they mistook you for one.
I noticed ibo drug peddlers in Budapest rail and bus stations, and in some smaller Hungarian cities, they are also using romanian gysies to deal for them.
What most global police forces call Nigerian criminals are typically igbos
there is also the syrian crisis whereby some black africans used the opportunity to cross the border into hungary enroute to germany.

Hungary and poland have recently been sanction by the EU for racism and refusing to accept refugees.

Hungary has the highest numbers of prostitutes and pornopraphic people in the europe but they are also one of the most racist poor people in eastern europe!
beware!

But u dnt make a point here.

Nobody would have known the full story because there is no way they will tell the truth with you being a foreigner. All the same, my people una don hear. He who has ear, let him hear!!!
