Hoodlums suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have attacked the home of the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyebade.

The attackers were said to have stormed Oyebade's official residence in Umuahia, the state capital on Thursday morning.

The attackers burnt down cars they saw in the compound.

Oyebade, who was on Wednesday night replaced by Anthony Ogbizi, was not in the house when the attackers stormed the building.

He is yet to officially handover to Ogbizi.

Abia State has witnessed a lot of tension in the last few days, starting with the attack on a convoy of the Nigerian Army by suspected members of IPOB close to the residence of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu in Umuahia.

The convoy was on a show of strength when the confrontation happened.

The tension had quickly spread to Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the State.

On Thursday, unidentified persons believed to be members of IPOB attacked the Ariaria Police Divisional Headquarters and burnt it.

The attack on the police station follows reports that went viral in the wee hours of Thursday that soldiers burnt houses and killed some residents of Umuode near Aba and its environs.

Following the attack, security has been beefed up at the Aba Area Command Headquarters and other Police Divisions in the commercial city.

The crisis had necessitated the declaration of curfew by the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The curfew, which was initially meant to end on Thursday has been extended to Friday.

The end has come, the Nigerian Government have finally broken the camels back. There is no love from any direction. The coming days would say a lot.

FTC on a period like this? Biko I don't want the accolades, my prayers and thoughts are with the families being terrorized by the Nigerian Army in the East
