(It was time for the evening fellowship, Christians all over the campus came for their evening prayers as usual, every Wednesday, the students were deeply in worship, Angela and her friends were there for the first time)

Mojola : Wow, C&S fellowship is really growing, I cant imagine that there will be lots of students here on Wednesday

Angela : Yeah, every church has to improve, especially this C&S church people really think low of them, but the thing is that fake prophets are the ones who made people see this church as a bad church,but if you shine your eyes and go to the right C&S (cherubuim & Seraphim) church you will really enjoy your stay in their church,they are so good spiritually and they have branches oversea also.

Mojola : Really that's good, most of this Pentecostal church doesn't even have a branch oversea, Yet they have the mouth to condemn other churches that are growing every day,instead of them to think of a way to grow,they are busy destroying things with their mouth.

Angela : (Laughing) Ah mojola, you wont kill me ooo

Mojola : What, its true now even the bible says we should remove the log in our eyes before removing stones in other peoples eyes, I so much hate Hippocrates, I don't even believe in selecting churches I can go to, what I believe is that anywhere the name of God is called and worshiped,I can go there as long as I can fell the spirit of God in the place, I can worship there, even pastor Adeboye knows that C&S is a good place to worship, He has even been there before to greet the elders in the altar.

Mojola : No now, you know I attend redeem, I heard it from my brother and again am even sure of one, the founder of redeem itself came from C&S, He was called by God to establish a new church, if C&S was that bad the founder of redeem wont have been good spiritually or have been called by God to establish his own church

Angela : You are right, Thanks friend you are the best, Samson and I have really hurt her and am sure she is the only one that was hurt by her two friends, she really loved us and what did we do to pay her back, instead of welcoming her when we saw her, we judged her, if I was in her shoes, I would really feel betrayed by my friends, why did I let out her secret in the first place, am I crazy, it was really non of my business you know, I should have allowed her to tell Samson herself, I am really a selfish person, being in her shoes I would feel really bad, I think I should call Samson, we have been really unfair to her.( She picked her phone and called Samson)

Mojola : Don't blame yourself too much, jumoke will also have some faults in what happened, I know God is in control

Angela: I just wish I could see her here, i came here for her but now I cant see her anywhere, I wish she was here.

Mojola: You came here because she attends C&S, please have faith am sure you will see her, (She was consoling her when she sighted jumoke) well, speaking of the devil

Mojola : She is already here, look at her yourself, make sure you talk to her and settle things okay, I will be waiting for that gist at the hostel, bye

(Jumoke wearing her white garment looked like an angel from afar, she was surprised seeing angela)

Jumoke : (Surprised) Well, who do we have here, if you are here for revenge or to mock me, am not really in the mood you know, so please do me a favour leave me alone and act like you don't even know me.(She walks away)

Angela: Jumoke (she shouted and walked to jumoke) Am tired of all this, I am so tired of doing this all the time, am tired of acting like I don't know you and am tired of quarreling with you.

Jumoke: Yeah you should be tired, since you started all this, you should be when you have finally achieved your goal and that is snatching Samson from me and breaking my secret to the whole world, I trusted you, that's why I shared my pains with you not knowing that you will cause me more pain

Angela : That's why am sorry, am so sorry, I know I was selfish and I accept whatever punishment you give me, but about Samson it wasn't really my fault, you acted immature back then when we were young, so I thought I would teach you a lesson by making you more jealous not knowing that I was also acting immature, and am so sorry for that, if I knew my plan will lead to such a disaster, I wouldn't have carried it out. Am just so stupid and ungrateful to a friend like you, am so sorry.

Jumoke : (She was so touched, so she smiled) Yeah you should be sorry, I was also stupid to think Samson was mine, you didn't snatch anything away from me, I was so obsessed with him, the only thing that pained me was the secret you leaked out, it's a secret that gives me nightmares and I don't like remembering it but you already told Samson, who knows from Samson it will reach the whole school.

Angela : You know that's not true, Samson wont do that to you, to be honest I was really jealous of you, Samson really likes you, he cares for you like his own sister, he wont do that to you, I thought telling him your secret will help the situation, I didn't know that it will make it worse, am so sorry dear, please forgive me.

Jumoke : I forgive you, am not God, if he forgives us our sins then who am I to judge you, Please don't make me feel bad now, you are making me feel like a bad person already. Anyway am sorry for what I did to you the last time, I was controlled by my emotions

Angela: Don't apologize, you did what you thought was right, at least what you did has brought us back together, if you haven't done it, I wouldn't be here to settle things with you and if I was the one in your shoes I would have done something worse, I cant imagine being in your shoes I would be so filled with anger and hatred towards you, your forgiveness matters a lot to me, please forgive me and lets get back together as best friends.

Jumoke : Am human and the anger is still in me , but what can I do am so helpless and am the most pitiful person here, since you said if you were in my shoes it would be hard for you to forgive anyone, maybe I should not forgive you so easily since that what you will do If you were in my shoes.

Angela: No no no, please don't do that, I was only joking around with you.

Jumoke : if thats the case, please let bygones be bygones, I only forgive you because of God so please understand that I have already forgiven you and point of correction Gods forgiveness matters the most to us, you should ask God to forgive you, not me cause I have already forgiven you,

Angela : Thank you so much, (she hugged jumoke) You have really made me happy today, thank you, so we are back as friends

Jumoke: (Cuts in) Angela don't misunderstand me, yes I have forgiven you but I have not forgotten and to be back together with you as your friend, I just don't worth it

Angela: Why are you talking like this, you worth more than that, don't downgrade yourself

Jumoke : Am not downgrading myself it's the truth, who will want to be friends with a useless and barren girl like me, even Samson left me because of that so who am I to be friends with you guys again, How will I be able to face Samson, what right do I have

Angela: This is not the jumoke I know, the girl I know always have that pride in her, she doesn't allow any situation overcome her, she is a girl I admire all the time, I don't know how you always do it but what I can say is that you are a strong girl and I have always known you to be very strong, who told you that you are barren ,huh who told you that you are useless, is it your doctor, who is your doctor to say that you are barren, what audacity does he have, when God hasn't put a full stop to your life, no one dares to put it, when God hasn't pronounced you useless and barren, No one can make you barren even the president of Nigeria cant make you barren, even the richest man in the whole world cant change the fact that you are not barren,don't believe what an ordinary doctor says, only God can change your destiny, please have faith in him, if he says yes no one can say no, he is the miracle worker and he will surely perform that miracle In your life today, have faith he is able, it is well okay. ( She wiped jumoke's tears) Don't cry, all is well, I am here with you and God is with you as well, he would never leave you nor forsake you when you need him the most.

Jumoke : (She hugs angela and cries the more) Thank you friend, I will never wish or imagine that anyone faces what I faced in the past, its such a horrible experience, Thanks for being there friend.

Angela : Its not your fault okay, let it go, don't ever remember what happened, just act like it has never happened, you are a new creature in Christ, so forget the past

Jumoke: Am sure Samson hates me already

Angela : No he doesn't hate you, he even told me that he can marry someone that is not a virgin

Jumoke : How ?

Angela : He said that his families' tradition is very old ,that this is a new era, they now serve the living God so they don't follow old family tradition anymore

Jumoke : Really, so why did he tell me a different story

Angela : Yeah, he had no choice, he was afraid of his family members until he asked his mother if he could break the rules and she told him that those traditions are old and are no longer effective, the only reason they sill implemented it was to make sure their children doesn't make bad choices, so if he even marries you there is nothing to be worried about.(She smiles)

Jumoke: Thats if we are destined to be together, please stop being silly

Samson: what do you mean by what am I doing here, we really need to check your memory,you called me yesterday and said you wanted to see me for something urgent and I also told you that I wanted to tell you something, so we are suppose to meet today, so you have forgotten, thank God I met mojola at your hostel, if not for her I wouldn't know that you were here, for God sake what were you thinking, you really wasted my time today, seriously its really unfair.

Angela: Oh am really sorry,I called your number earlier but it was switched off, I totally forgot myself (She started forming fake tears)I cant believe that I wasted my friends precious time, am really sorry,oh the punishment for my sin must be really great. How many strokes of cane will I get, your majesty please forgive me don't sentence me to death, oh maamaa. (she teased him with the Korean language and smiled)

Jumoke: I know you are sorry and am sure that you have forgiven me also, I wasn't really in my present state of mind when I did that horrible thing to angela, you know am not that kind of person, my friend gave me a bad advice and I followed it due to my stupidness, I was controlled by my emotions that day, I was controlled by my flesh and not the spirit of God and I really regret it I ( She wanted to continue speaking but Samson cuts in)

Samson : shhhh, keep quiet you talk too much, its okay, I know that you are not a bad person, if I was in your shoes I would have done worse, don't be annoyed okay.

Angela : Guys you know what, lets forgive ourselves and forget the past, lets face the present, you know what, am getting tired of this forgive me issue lets party and celebrate the renewal of our friendship

Samson: Thank God the long awaited day has come

Angela: Group hug (They had a group hug)

Jumoke : It feels good to be back together

Angela: Yes ooo, by the way Samson what was the good news you wanted to tell me

*Chenai: Part 1*
I held my breath trying to listen if there was anyone else breathing in the room. Dang, the silence was unnerving. I could hear my pulse loud in my ear; my heart beat a rhythmic rendition of its own, manifesting a new wave of fear. I cried at the self-inflicted circumstance, the abyss of stupidity and careless miscalculation.

My father was a burly man who swore more than a cupful of a sailor’s semantics. Famous for his unexpected backhand slaps that every time I was near him I would involuntarily flinch. He reigned with terror in our home, mercilessly beat us all leaving us with nothing to salvage but self-pity and burning hatred for him. I can hardly remember a day when he was sober or said a kind word to any of us. There was no getting used to his abuse, everyday felt new and raw. The habitual abuse took out a piece of me every single time, as I slowly become an empty shell that existed as a punching bag for a depraved animal.

Mother was worn out; she was all skin and bones. The light that used to flicker in her eyes had diminished. She had the twitch; she would twitch now and then while jerking her head awkwardly to the left. This was acquired after the devil’s incarnate (our father) bashed her head in to the wall. I remember vividly the image of her crumpling to the floor, blood steadily trickling from her nose. I could hear my younger brother Tariro screaming in the background,

“ You killed her! You bastard! You killed her!”

Father did not give a damn, he growled at Tariro,

“Watch your mouth boy, or you will be next.”

With that threat hanging in the air he stormed out and disappeared in to the night. I was numb, I couldn’t move. I sat in that corner whimpering while watching the lifeless body of our mother. He hit her too many times on the head. Six months prior to this incident, a nasty gush on her forehead had been stitched up after she took a blow from a wheel spanner. There is so much head trauma a person can take.

Tariro was the feisty one, contrary to the reserved persona that beaconed from me. We were complete opposites. He on the other hand was generally loud mouthed and snarky, while I was the soft spoken and shy girl. We were each other’s corner stone; we strengthened each other through out the purgatory of our father’s abuse. Tariro once reported him to the police after father had given him an alarming uppercut because he had supposedly ‘eyeballed him.’

“Come here boy, eye-balling your father is utter disrespect! I said bring your scrawny ass over here!”

He bellowed. I pleaded with him.

“Please father he didn’t mean to, forgive him please”

My little brother was only twelve years old. Tariro stood with unwavering stubbornness, glaring at him in open defiance. Which did not help his case at all. Like a deranged man that he was, two long strides towards him and his fist swiftly and squarely met with Tariro’s chin, sending my brother flying across the room. Tariro got up and bolted, running faster than Forest Gump, headed straight to the police station.

Angela: Enjoy yourself , am really busy with something outside, I will be back (She moved out with jumoke and they discussed on their way outside)

Angela: I really love your gown, you like wearing designers don't you

Samson: ( Took the microphone) Thanks you jummy, jummy please come back on stage, I really thank God for the success of today without God who am I to be here, lot of my mates are already dead but he gave me the opportunity to be here I really appreciate God thank you father (The audience clapped) and I thank you all for coming to my, what should I call it self is it my birthday party or my dinner party( They all laughed) okay let me call it this, my birthday dinner night party, I think that's better, thank you all for coming, I really really appreciate, because without you people in my party there will be no party so thank you all for coming,unilag student can i hear you shout,( They all cheered) the akokites thanks very much,A big thanks to my grandma for all her support, thank you ma,and last but not the least, a big thank you to the two best things that have ever happen to me, my pretty ladies, my best friends right from childhood( The people were already clapping), the amazing two,I love you two like, I love you too much, and these two beautiful ladies are angela and jumoke,please come on stage angela. Here is jumoke on my right ( Angela was already on stage smiling) angela come here on my left, here are my two best buddies, thank you so much friends, today was possible because of you guys ,thanks for being a part of my life ( People clapping) ,thanks so much,you can go now (He said to them) Guys I know you want their numbers, I wont give you (Everyone were laughing) girls if you are disturbed tonight just report that person to me(he laughed) they are my everything so don't mess with them, most of you were asking me who made my cloth and did this beautiful decorations, well jumoke did this decorations, she is really good at it, you can all see it yourself, and angela made this cloth its her design most of you know her already, A round of applause for them please, so if you have any decorations to do you know who to call, and if you need a talented fashion designer, you know who to call, so you can get their business card later, that's not the only thing they did for me, this party itself is their idea, it's a surprise itself, I only wanted a get together ,not a loud party, but see what I got,its just my taste,thanks to them,, thank you guys once again, and thanks to everyone here, your presence here means a lot to me,thank you ( He saluted the people and left the stage to his sit)

Jumoke: Well that's a wonderful speech from the celebrant a round of applause for him, thank you Mr. Celebrant,thanks a lot, the next on the list, is a dancing group that will blow your mind away with their moves, A round of applause for them as they come on stage, the angy dancing group (There were all clapping while jumoke danced like a robot and left the stage)

( The group started their performance by singing the happy birthday song, leaded by angela, then after they sang the song in harmony, they started dancing to a fast beat hip-hop song, and they also danced to a happy birthday song, while they were still dancing samson went to meet jumoke)

Samson: Your friend is really a good dancer isn't she

Jumoke : Yes of course my friend is a good dancer, she really enjoys dancing its just like her hobby (not noticing its Samson, she stares at the stage)

Samson: Thanks for everything you did, I owe you and angela a lot

Jumoke : Samson, I didn't know you were the one, I was carried away (Laughing) you don't have to thank me for anything I did what a friend would have done

Samson:Everybody are really enjoying watching her dance steps

Angela: I will like the celebrant, Mr. Samson to please come on stage, I challenge him to dance with me since he loves saying he can dance better than I can, so please come and prove yourself today

Samson ( Shaking his head and laughing) No am shy, this is cheating

Angela: Today is the best day to prove that you are a better dancer than I am, don't be shy, we have judges here, everybody here is a judge and they are my witness to testify that I won today, come on get on stage (people were shouting go on stage)

Samson: (Laughing) Alright I accept your challenge, but you are not yet the winner so stop saying you won

(He stepped on stage laughing while the DJ played ese oooo, ese oooo by sina peters, they both danced to the fast beat song shaking their body and facing themselves in a short moment after the long dance, They fell on each other when the DJ played a slow song by Selena Gomez titled good for you , and their lips touched each other which the audience misinterpreted it as a kiss, it was still a shock to the both of them how they fell on each other so they didn't quickly stand up, jumoke got back to the spot where she left Samson, she didn't see him there so she sighted what happened on stage)

Angela: (She was shouting jumoke's name while running) its not what you think

Angela: Don't you ever dare slap me with those hands of yours, now I see what has been wrong with you, I have always wondered why you act this way all the time, now I know why you think everything you want I must give to you, you think am indebted to you, thank you for saying your mind, you said I was from the slums, yes you maybe right and maybe I never worth your friendship, but listen carefully I got my scholarship by working hard, I was the best out of all the people that did the exam, I wasn't favored by your parent or anyone,only God helped me in that exam and I passed so I got my scholarship by working hard myself and you know that because your parent told you themselves, so don't think you did me any favors, my aunt was right after all, I shouldn't have agreed to be friends with rich people like you, all you ever think about is money and your status, I wish I had listened to her, I thought you were different, I didn't know that you are a spoilt little girl just like the others, no wonder I can never understand you, now I get where that your attitude is from, its because you are a rich spoilt brat, that's where the ego is from, and I really regret being friends with you, now I know that you were just using me thinking I will follow your orders like a maid just the way others follow you, but you know what, am not stupid, if we are not wealthy it doesn't mean my sense is taken away from me, hold your friendship, people like you don't deserve a good friend like me, go to hell for all I don t care (she tries to move and get away when jumoke pulled her back)

Jumoke: Do you really think of me like that, if I was like the others, I wont even be friends with you, but never mind, you can say all you can I don't care, its just that I made a mistake by choosing someone like you as a friend, that's a very big mistake, idiots like you don't worth my friendship

Angela: Hmmmm idiot hun, well you don't worth my friendship also, I stooped so low to be friends with a barren girl like you, get out of my way (She hissed and tried moved away)

Jumoke : (Annoyed) barren (She pulled angela back and they both started fighting)

Jumokepulled angela back) I hate you so much. ( Jumoke forgot that there was a swimming pool at their back while trying to push angela on the floor she pushed her into the pool)

Angela: (drowning) Some body help me

Person 1 : There is someone in the pool, I think she cant swim

Person 2 : Then why did the other girl throw her friend into the pool when she knows her friend cant swim

Person 1: Stop talking and lets help her

Jumoke: I have to leave this place ( She was about to leave when samson called her) Oh no

Person1 : Samson thank God you are here, someone fell into the pool and we really need to get the person to the hospital

Samson( He shouted) Why were you people fighting in the first place

Samson: You are sorry, will sorry solve this, I don't think you people are friends at all, you guys are the worst enemies have ever known so you should stop deceiving yourselves with this friend image, you better pray that nothing bad happens to Angela orelse

(On Sunday morning, Samson rushed back to the hospital to see Angela, he had slept in the hospital the day before, so after going home to freshen up he rushed back to the hospital, he met jumoke sitting in the reception of the hospital which made him more annoyed)

Jumoke: Samson (She moves close to him) I know you are angry but please talk to me, am very sorry about yesterday

Samson: (He sighed and left her without uttering a word)

Jumoke(following him) Am really sorry Samson, this your silence is killing me, please you can hit me if you want ,punish me, I know everything that happened is my fault, please talk to me don't be silent.

Samson: Hmmmm (He pushed her away and walked past her)

Jumoke: Samson please now, okay hit me , hit me, I don't like how you are silent, please hit me (She picked his hand and used it to hit her face)

Samson: Leave me alone Jumoke (He shouted looking very angry) Everything that happened Is all your fault, your friend is still in there fighting for her life, instead of you to be busy praying, you are here begging me as if that is the solution to what happened, I don't blame you at all, I blame myself for allowing you people to celebrate my birthday, do you even know the gratitude of what you did, you have made my birthday the worse day of my life, the day my two friends almost killed themselves over me, and what if Angela dies, my birthday will be a day of mourning instead of happiness to people, so don't just come close to me, I really can't stand you, you made my birthday a success and you ruined it yourself, so please am begging you stay away from me and also stay away from this hospital, you have ruined my birthday don't ruin my life also please ( He moved away from her)

Jumoke: But Samson I didn't do it intentionally,I have been praying since last night and I know angela will be fine, what did the doctor say

Samson: Sorry won't solve anything and for your information the doctor hasn't said anything either so it will be better if you continue praying because if something bad happens to her, you will have yourself to blame, and I don't even want to see you around here until Angela gets well, so it will be better if you leave orelse.(He left to sit in Angela's ward)

Jumoke: Orelse what, what does he want me to do, I have prayed and I regret my actions, should I kill myself, am not leaving here until Angela gets well, I wont leave.(She sat down in the reception)

Samson: Doctor good morning, any improvement

Angela: You of course, what are they paying you for, abi which kind of nurse is this one self, I said you should get her out of here, are you not supposed to listen to your patient,cant you see she is causing more harm to my health

Nurse: You this girl are you mad or what, now am in trouble, the doctor will ask what I was doing when this happened

Jumoke: Call the doctor nurse

Nurse: Okay Doctor, Doctor

Angela: No I won't allow you to do that (She threw the glass jug on the nurse head, jumoke was still crying on the floor,the nurse fainted immediately the glass jug hit her head, angela started feeling dizzy since she stressed herself too much so she fell from the bed and was immediately unconscious)

Doctor: (When he came to check on angela, he was shocked to see three prople on the floor) What is nurse bisi doing on the floor,nurse bisi,nurse bisi,oh my God what happened here I thought I told this nurse not to allow anyone into this room because the patient is highly sensitive

Nurse bisoye: Sir what happened here

Doctor: Just call the other nurses here, take the two of them to the ward, and make sure you take care of the third patient who stays in this room

Samson: A hundred thousand naira? ok doctor, i will be right there, (he cuts the phone, Talking to himself) Where will i get a hundred thousand naira, grandma hasn't sent any money to me, i cant even call grandma right now she may not be with that kind of money presently, what should i do now, what's the emergency, i pray Angela is okay, let me call jumoke maybe she may be of help (He calls her) why is she not picking her phone, my God what is happening, am short of cash, i spent a lot of money for my birthday.(He keeps thinking) Okay i know what to do, i will just withdraw 40K from my account, at least the doctor would start something with that, i think that's what i will do (He rushed to the hospital)

(Samson at the hospital)

Samson: (Worried)What is happening, nurse nurse (He called),why is no one paying attention to me (He saw the doctor) Doctor what happened, i was so scared when you called me, what's the emergency?

Doctor: (He called samson on the phone) Hello is that Mr. Samson, you need to come to the hospital immediately, there is an emergency and make sure you come with a hundred thousand naira.
