Nigeria Orders Probe Into 'brutal Bus Robbery' On The Lagos-benin Highway by Nobody: 9:20pm On Mar 04, 2010
Nigeria's Senate has ordered an investigation into reports that the police failed to attend the scene of a brutal robbery, which left many dead.
Photographs of corpses littering the Lagos-Benin highway last week have been circulating on the internet and have been published by a local newspaper.
The victims were reportedly made to lie down in the road and then the bus driver ordered to run them over.
A police spokesman questioned why there was no outcry until the photos emerged.
Yemi Ajayi told Next newspaper that he was "puzzled" by the reports.
"We are already investigating the report. We have sent distress signal to the police command in Edo and Ondo States for adequate investigation to the story," he said.
The reports suggest that female passengers were raped by the gang.
"I could not even look at the pictures and when I looked at the pictures eventually, I lost my appetite," said Senator Ibrahim Ida.
"Where were the police? Where were the checkpoints?" he asked, reports Thisday newspaper.
The Senate held a minute's silence for those reportedly killed.
Armed robbery is common in Nigeria and the police have a poor reputation.

I swear aaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Our leaders are so useless! This "thing" happened a few weeks back and its just now the senate is ordering an investigation. So what if no one took pictures? And why must this news be reported through a foreign correspondence? Fuck them, Fuck their meaningless minute of silence! They shoulda spent it choking on a heart-attack-inducing fatback!

I think that was pathetic too, and besides, what would ever come out of their probe? Nothing, since none of their family was among the victims

Not really, any sane person will look at the pictures and wonder if that dastardly deed was not performed by the devil himself.

I say DEATH to those robbers as soon as they are caught !!!

I wonder what was going through their minds during that minute.

I can imagine not the deceased or their families. But their fat bank accounts and numerous concubines, Nonsensical fartsss

I think they need to send the robbers to Mexico for the acid man to make them disappear.
Anyone that could do such to any human dont need to be tried at all, catch and deal with . . . .Shikena

they also need to look into these photos being circulated by certain NLers, of women performing degrading acts like peeing and defecating for the camera, or dancing as if in a drug induced trance (that one was courtesy aloy emeka).

Whoever is behind these photos might be holding these women in bondage as captives of some sort. They're probably linked to the human smugglers illegally transporting women to other countries as intimacy slaves.

This matter really needs to be looked into.

@ topic:

hope the probe comes up with solid facts though i doubt it. I'm yet to see evidence those photos are from Nigeria. The injuries do not look like they were inflicted by an automobile, though i could be wrong.

If the probe is not going to examine the "colonial legacy" policing structure that we are still running 50 years later it would only be another meaningless exercise. We are still waiting for the outcome of the constitutional review.

This is mockery. They should have kept quiet instead of awakening old wounds with no actual intention of going further. This silly probe is just foolery. When u add dane guns meant for hunting squirrels to an illiterate, under-paid policeman who can't read a manifest and only asks for car particulars out of mischief, what do u xpect? Let them S!H!U!T! U!P!

hummm this is really pathetic, the site is horrible, i got it on my outlook in the office, i couldnt even look at it, from the mail i recieved it was said that those that were ran over by the bus where those who did not have money to give, while those that had were free and some raped, is it now a crime to be poor or travel without money, with ATM why would one want to travel with large sums of money, people like me who do not like flight cause of fear of possible crash, now i guess i just have to love it than the thought of being ran over by a car, yuccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

I am really surprised people are mentioning the Nigerian Police force. Do we really have a Police force? I am of the thought that we have a force of black clothed Militia men who are car particular specialists, Commercial vehicle and lorries/truck driver hounders.
A bunch of yoyos who spend as much as PHCN spends on Generators for feeding security dogs.
Police my foot.
