In Nigeria, company name comes in a number of form, Ventures, Enterprise, CO-OP, LTD, LLC, PLC. INC., Corporation (and maybe others). Theoretically, when shareholders equal/less than 50, it is LTD and equal/more than 51 is PLC. What are the factors that can inform choosing other options such as INC, LLC and Corporation. Using Facebook and Microsoft as study. What should determine Facebook Inc instead of Facebook Ltd (i.e if shareholders are less than 50) and Microsoft Corporation instead of Microsoft PLC ) where shareholders are equal/more than 51. Also in recent time i see company names like Nairaland LLC in Nigeria. What are the possible determinants for these extensions? Need this for a research. All answers are welcome. |
