I posted a topic few days ago asking for your assessment of a GSD dog that I got. Well the same owner has been asking me to take his second dog also (picture attached). It's a Caucasian. Kindly help with these questions
1- is the Caucasian a quality one
2- how much do you reckon it should go for

because it's not massive?? Not all Caucasians are massive, depends on the bloodline. it sha looks like to me.

Pedigree is not written on dogs...pedigree simply means that you know the family lineage..been able to trace its father,grand father , great grand .....

How can u tell he's a pedigree without knowing the lineage. Nigerians really need to be schooled on use of some terms. No one can even tell u its pure or not without proper tests. All u can be told is if he's a good Dog or not. And to me

FYI, the Dog u posted could be a non pedigree..its.not abt d appearance

Pedigree doesn't have anything to do with looks. Pedigree simply means a detailed information about the.bloodline or ancestors of a Dog.

yea sure but if its on paper meaning the parents looked good enough to be registered into any of the breeding clubs.. so if its ped it has to look good too simple..so appearance can tell alot too...

Appearance can't tell u shiit abt pedigree. It can only tell u if a Dog looks good or not.
Many non pedigree dogs will floor pedigree dogs with wide margin. Be informed.

pls understand me clearly.. i have learnt and researched alot about this stuff, A DOG CANT BE POOR LOOKING AND BE PEDIGREE e.g rotties which i love so much, a rottweiler with a long snout can never be pedigree because its parents cant be registered and wont be recorded on paper if they have long snout......... but a dog can look very good and not have a tracable records of parents, but you must understand that its parents (mostly 2 generation backward) were outstanding. that boerboel you posted can never be from poorly bred parents or even grand parents. but if you dont knw them and cant show valid papers that they were registered to an appropriate breed club like the SABBS then its not pedigree but it has a good genetic make up from parent that would be accepted or registered

U need to read up on stuffs like breed standard
Check Dog conformation and u will be amazed that even a rott with long snout can be registered so far it meets d required dimensions. Do u also know that therr are diff categories used in registering dogs?

Some will be classed under show dogs, some breeding quality, some.pet quality.


Moreover, a poorly bred pedigree Dog can look so poor if the parents were mis matched. Breeding a quality Dog is more than just looking at d appearance of d parents.

U can also see a very good looking Dog from very poor looking parents, y? Compatibility.
