Job Title:
Accounts Officer

A major player in the hospitality and oil & Gas industry located in Eleme, Rivers State .
i. They offer services in the area of Petroleum products supply within the South-South region and beyond.
ii. They also operate an eight room lodging facility located also in the Eleme area of Rivers State.

Job Summary:
The accountant will support Executive Management by providing timely, accurate and up-to-date information about financial and accounting matters
Job Description:
i. Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing financial statements including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow statements and other reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
ii. Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
iii. Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
iv. Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
v. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
vi. Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
vii. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
viii. Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register.
ix. Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Document financial transactions by entering account information.
x. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
xi. Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
xii. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
xiii. Secure financial information by completing data base backups.
xiv. Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
Job Requirements
i. At least 3 years’ experience as accountant, preferable in an audit firm
ii. Degree in Accounting / Finance
iii. Knowledge of local and IFRS framework
iv. Member of local Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent
v. Technical knowledge and skill - IT knowledge (excel, ERP systems)
