Why not?

Southern Nigerians are always quick to mention that the Northern region is the worst in all human development indices, the highest level of poverty, and always claim it is the region that is dragging the rest of the country backward.

What then is wrong if the President responsible for the progress of the whole country asks the World Bank to focus on the North? The region that is claimed to be impeding the country's collective progress?

Is this plain hypocrisy, wickedness or collective bipolarity of southerners?

World Bank, please continue your focus on the "backward" North.

lol. Will you even mind these people. They same people that will remind everybody that cares to listen that the north is the most backward region in the country are the same people accusing the president for asking the WB to focus it's economic development projects/programs on the north.

I don't know, but were they expecting the world Bank to focus on their "Eldorado south which is clearly the most developed place" on the surface of the earth? That's according to them. Lol

The South doesn't need any development programs from world Bank because it has already developed, rather the north needs it!!! Anybody who isn't happy with this should jump into the nearest pit toilet. Lol

so why are you and your likes angry about the president's decision? Since your region is the richest place in the world, why do you even care about world Bank development programs?

The South has ruled Nigeria the most since 1999, why do we still have cries of southern marginalization, cries for restructuring, general poor power supply etc?

Jonathan was in the presidency for 8 years, why is there still endemic poverty and underdevelopment in the SS? Why has Ogoni still not been cleaned up? Why is there no 2nd Niger Bridge? Why are the roads in the East an eyesore and why is iboland caving-in to erosion?

The answer is bad leadership nationwide, coupled with the huge population in the North with limited resources.

The greatest irony is when the SE screams marginalization in one breath, and in the same breath claim the North is the most backward and undeveloped region in the entire country. How does that even make sense?

Watch how they will avoid this thread like a plague.

I couldn't agree more with your submission, southern hypocrisy stinks to the high heavens!

[quote author=ourema post=61371097]The north has ruled Nigeria the most so why the poverty? That's not how it works. It takes a visionary leader to transform a country or region as the case may be which we are lacking in Nigeria.

Well is actually not hypocrisy but inbred political foolishness. They have this notion of "us verses them".. I don't know, but those people love lying to themselves even if means burying themselves in a grave dug by them. They say their's a developed region which we all know isn't true. Now here comes WB development projects for Nigeria, and you begin to wonder what the so-called developed south wants with a WB development programs. But here they are, crying profusely.

Development programs like this are even given to countries like USA, Germany, etc. Is a form of assistance, But when some people think they can put down others so that they can feel good about their pseudo developed claims, you begin to wonder why they are groaning about things like this.

The north has consumed up to 60% of oil money since independence. The north has been enjoying the best federal infrastructure in the country thanks to northerners that have ruled more than other ethnic group. Northerners own all the oil blocs etc etc etc

1. Yet the north has the worst academic results in the country

2. Highest poverty rates

3. Severe terrorism/Ignorance and violence

4. Millions of Almajiris/urchins

etc etc etc

If you like put all the resources in the world into the north you cannot see progress until the lazy, corrupt, wicked northern elite are called to account by the poor suffering masses of the north. Unfortunately the northern masses are too illiterate, poor and brainwashed to do a thing

Northerners are stupid and idiots and they should hold their leaders for their backward lifestyles and stop distracting world bank from attending to the region (southern Nigeria) that will yield quick result.

Yorubas can now see the wickedness of the north. Buhari is not stupid in 2003, 2007 and 2011 he got 90% of his votes from the north. You think he would erase that just because yorubas gave him 55% of their vote in 2015? Buhari is the Awolowo of the north, the ojukwu and Kanu of the north. He sleeps and breaths north. The rest of Nigeria is a mere tool to use to achieve northern progress. He has not only sidelined Tinubu but he has silenced him.
He was quick to cancel Amenesty packages for ND Millitants while approving same for BH terrorists. He does not only hate Igbos.... he doesnt give a damn about the entire south. There is no region that any FG should 'focus' on. FG may only focus on building critical infrastructure like power and energy etc for the well being of the entire country. But Buhari's FG is not that type of FG
The critical question is ''Would the south vote Buhari again in 2019? The problem is neither APC nor PDP but individuals.

The first bolded is a blatant lie.

Have you looked at federal allocation figures at all? Do you realize that apart from getting the highest federal allocation, the SS also gets derivation funds, NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta etc.....yet is the same SS not grappling with severe poverty and underdevelopment? You have no point here.

To the second bolded, do you see the irony in stating that the North has the best infrastructure in the country, yet you all claim the same region is the most undeveloped? Are you blind to the illogicality of those twin claims?

As for the third bolded, replace North with Nigeria and see how perfectly logical and better placed your statement sounds.

The bottom line is that the OP is right, if you claim the North is backward, undeveloped and holding the country back, then you LACK THE MORAL RIGHT to complain about the President asking for WB development programs to be focused on the same North.

Oh I see, the South doesn't have a single criminal. Everybody in the south is a saint and that's why countries like SA, Malaysia are showing you so much love. Romeo and juliet kind of love.

According to a multi-millionaire like you from the " developed" south, ya'all don't need development programs so I don't know were the bitter anger emanates from.

Shouldn't you be happy that the underdeveloped north is finally getting help from the world Bank? Why won't you just shout hallelujah over this news and move on!!! grin
