pictures are not hidden they are kept in different folders ...kindly check other folder in your gallery and see

For example In my download folder I have about 500+ pictures but on the hot 5 only 166 comes out. it even happens with my music (in download folder)

File manager> 500+ (look at the red lines, those pictures are on my SD card but isn't showing in gallery)

In the picture gallery check folders containing specific uploads are Screenshots your gallery

Hold power button and volume up and down to force Boot... Or force Boot and load recovery reboot

Based on your gallery and file man, your phone is okay you where viewing old download folder whereas you have other folders loaded with images, Goto DCIM, Pictures you will see other images

go to file manager > transsion. Delete files in that folder
