some eskimos are dark skinned and they live far from the equator. In India, you have both light and dark skinned people who are native to the region.

Eskimos are migrants and have spent less time geologically evolving in cold regions. They are closely related to the native indians of the Americas who have retained pigmentation. As regards indians. The Indo-europeans are much different from the original settlers of southern india and sri lanka who are closer to the equator and darker skinned. these include the Dravidians, tamil and the native Andamese. There has been a caste system going on in india which expresses these differences if one chooses to observe this. All you need to do is travel to the rural areas of india to observe.
