My dear,these things do happen.
Countless times, I've been molested and harassed here for just no reason. It's even worse here in Togo! Police women, students and even clients do this. I was so unfortunate that I fall prey of one months back and I pray it never happens again.

Not all men are sex maniacs, you say it's something they do every possible things to have? That applies to low lives alone. Real men chase success not pussy.

I hate this kind of sissies.
You were sexually-harrassed, you kept mute and did nothing about
it so the stupid woman can be called out and sanctioned.

Even when you decided to share your story, you couldn't name the offender
but you kept harping on about double standards.

Are your audience supposed to be able to read your mind?

He took the first step. He spoke out. What you're doing is tantamount to silencing him. Let him talk. Let him open the discussion on men being victims of sexual assault.

Here is one of your fellow men, we are not the enemy. Men need to sit and have a reorientation on what male sexuality really means to them. This is just the first page o. Just imagine other comments on other pages.

My heart goes out to all the male victims of sexual harassment and rape. Together to fight this till the end.

Of course there will always be double standards. I remember a couple of years ago, I was in my room, nursing a hangover from the night before, and my friend's female friend came into the room. I opened my eyes and was shocked to see her standing there. I had seen her for the first time a few hours before then when my friend asked me to help her turn on the TV/DSTV in the parlor as he was leaving the flat.

So, there she was in my room, asking me if I am okay and all that. I told her I had a little too much to drink last night and needed to sleep it off, then she asked if she could lie down beside me on the bed. I thought I wasn't hearing well, but I sha nodded. She lay down beside me, and I turned around to continue my sleep. A few minutes later, she tapped me, I turned around, and she slowly kissed me. I didn't want to embarrass her, so I played along...long story short, we had sex.

If it was the other way around, the female in the equation would have shouted rape. Because, really, that was like rape to me.

Nice sentiments. Unfortunately you are in the minority.

I don't really mind the fact that women stick up for each other given that as a group women have been oppressed for so long. What irks me is when men say things like "it is impossible for a man to be raped". When male members of society make statements like these, you realize that the male is actually completely vulnerable particularly in very cultural patriarchal societies like ours.

Yes, I understand where you're coming from, I do. Even if he has not carried it out in a way that it should go, let us still use this opportunity to open the floor for a much needed discussion on sexual assault again male victims please.

Yes trust me, men have a lot of work to do among themselves. Let me give you a quick example if I may.

There was a time women would not leave their matrimonial homes even under sever abuse, girls would never talk about rape because of the shame of being seen as "spoiled", we women had to first shut down the regressive voices in our communities, the women who would advice other women to endure abuse or women who would slut shame women, after we were able to suppress this did we now face the problem outwards effectively.

Men need to do this work. There are a lot of men out there that are physically, mentally and sexually abused. Please do not shut them up. let them have a safe arena to speak. Please forget how this particular man put it, just take the message in it.

That is not true, men have also done a lot of good, and there is still a lot of right in the world, op's post has shown us that.

Men have been socialised into reacting a certain way to certain issues, same with women, and if the learnt it, then they can unlearn it. The silence around male sexual assault victims must end. No more!

my dear, I don't see women as the enemy.I just don't like double standards. Rape is rape, whether it happened to male or female. But the criminal law in Nigeria has no provision for the male scenario.

Very apt observation brother, and it should not be so. Let's us start from our lawmakers who should be in charge of implementing this provision. The combined Senate and House of Assembly currently stands at about 96.3% men. Me thinks men are shortchanging themselves. Anything to be done about this?
