"I felt sick since Saturday night," Garbin said. "I got better on Sunday morning but in the second set, when I was winning 3-0, the problem came back. I fought to try and finish the match but it was impossible."

They aint doing too badly. If not for Kim's disappointing loss in last week's final, she's been ok. Justine's bounced back too and venus, erm, i don't think she can beat Peer in tomorrow's final.
Re: Updates On WTA Tournaments! by toptho(f): 11:00pm On Feb 24, 2007
i hope she does though.Although 95% of the time i prefer watching the men's tennis too many screamers amongst the women.
Hope Venus wins anyway
Re: Updates On WTA Tournaments! by PDF: 11:10pm On Feb 24, 2007
I was of the opinion that there are more women's tennis fans than men's but so far, that's not the case on nairaland. I prefer men's tennis too anyways but there are some women who i just love to watch.

What a comeback after more than four months out through injury. I think I'll stop predicting the williams' matches. The two sisters have proved me wrong this year.

@toptho,  that's funny.

WTA Doha:

Top seed Justine Henin shrugged off a determined challenge from Australia's Alicia Molik to reach the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open with a 6-2 7-6 victory.

The Belgian was joined in the last eight by seeds Svetlana Kuznetsova, Martina Hingis, Jelena Jankovic, Patty Schnyder and Francesca Schiavone.

Fifth seed Schnyder's reward for a 6-3 6-4 win over Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues was a date with Henin.

Third seed Hingis set up an intriguing showdown with sixth seed Daniela Hantuchova after posting an easy 6-2 6-2 victory over her doubles partner Maria Kirilenko of Russia.

Hantuchova rallied to down Greek Eleni Daniilidou 6-7 6-3 6-3 and fourth seed Jankovic routed Italy's Maria Elena Camerin 6-0 6-1.

Kuznetsova, a 7-5 6-1 winner over Germany's Julia Georges, will next face Schiavone.

Schiavone, seeded eighth, was made to work hard in an all-Italian battle with Mara Santangelo before her opponent quit with a left wrist injury while trailing 4-6 7-6 1-0.

Indian pin-up Sania Mirza, who suffered a knee injury during her first-round win, pulled out of her match against Katerina Bondarenko.

WTA Doha:

Top seed Justine Henin won the Qatar Open on Saturday with a comfortable 6-4 6-2 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova. The Belgian, who won in Dubai last week, came from 4-2 down to take the first set and then broke three times in the second set to claim the title.

It was her 14th win in 15 matches against Russian Kuznetsova, whom she also beat in the semi-finals in Dubai.

"It's my first title in Doha and I love to win where I have never won in the past" said Henin.

Ironically, Kuznetsova's only victory against Henin came at this tournament in 2004, the Belgian's only previous appearance at the Qatar event.

Henin is the first non-Russian to win the title for five years.

Kuznetsova was also the runner-up in 2004 when she lost to compatriot Anastasia Myskina.
